Dave’s Hot Chicken Review 6.5/10 We stopped at Dave’s after a pretty heavy rainstorm, and apparently the A/C inside was set to “Arctic Expedition.” We ended up sitting outside because I didn’t pack my parka and wasn’t prepared to be reminded of the Ice Bar in Tokyo, Japan. My son and I got Dave’s #2, Extra Hot, which is the second hottest level just below Reaper. We decided not to sign the waiver for Reaper because we still have things to live for. Honestly, the Extra Hot could have been hotter. It had some heat, but I was expecting a little more punishment. At this point, I’m starting to believe the Reaper sauce is basically ketchup with a threatening name. They make you sign a waiver like you’re about to defuse a nuclear bomb, but I’m beginning to suspect Reaper could be served in a middle school cafeteria with a carton of chocolate milk. The sandwich itself was really good. Solid 8/10. The chicken was very juicy, flavorful, and probably the best part of the meal by far. My wife got the Loaded Dave’s Fries, mild, and gave them a solid 6/10. Not bad, but nothing that’s going to make me write a thank you letter to Dave. Then there was the Buffalo Spicy Mac & Cheese. This needs to be discontinued. My son is a Mac & Cheese aficionado. This kid will eat Mac & Cheese from just about anywhere. At this point, I’m pretty sure he considers it one of the major food groups. He took a few bites of this stuff and threw it away. He didn’t finish it. He didn’t pick around it. He didn’t say he wasn’t hungry. He threw it away. That is the strongest restaurant review a child can give. The restaurant itself was actually pretty nice and had a good setup. The only problem was that apparently the thermostat was being controlled by someone who hates human beings. Overall, 6.5/10. The chicken was very good. The sandwich was an 8. The fries were a 6. The Mac & Cheese should probably be reported to the proper authorities. The Extra Hot could definitely be hotter, and if Reaper is actually as dangerous as they claim, I may have to try it next time just to see whether the waiver is for the sauce or for Dave’s lawyers. I’d definitely go back for the chicken. Next time, I’m bringing a jacket. Last thing because I give credit where credit is due. Employee named Ryan customer service was top tier! He was getting them orders out like clock work!
I love Dave's Hot Chicken! My food is always fresh, hot, and full of flavor. The sauce on the chicken is absolutely delicious, and the mac and cheese is one of my favorite sides. The customer service is consistently friendly and efficient, which makes every visit enjoyable. I usually order the medium heat, and it's the perfect level of spice for me—not too mild and not too hot. I highly recommend Dave's Hot Chicken to anyone looking for a delicious meal!
The food is a great value great flavor. That’s the bottom line and that’s all that matters. I prefer a dryer heat as opposed to big wet goopy and a thinner chicken piece so I really enjoyed the Dave’s hot bites with the hot flavor profile. They were dry a little bit moist but not dripping and sauce. Perfect they were a little too thicken some spots and inconsistent. That’s why I avoided the tender cause it’s way too thick love the fries. Also love that they let you have cheese sauce for dipping. Only real problem. Was the entry in the order area either the clientele doesn’t know how to form a line or just the way they’re set up oh, and although very good.
Go into it with real low service expectations. You order at a kiosk while employees chat at the counter ignoring you. Then when your order is ready one of those same two girls who were standing around chatting will call your name, forget to hand you your drinks, and then leave you there to figure out how to get three baskets of food back to the table on your own. One of them did cycle back to offer to help me carry them after I was standing there struggling to figure out a way to carry it all. Paid 50$ for our order. Got a refund for half of it. My bites weren’t served hot, the mozzarella sticks weren’t hot either. Didn’t ask for a refund for the sandwich tender combo, my partner just didn’t like the flavor or amount of breading- or for the drinks. Manager was nice and apologetic. Just bummed that it wasn’t as good as the hype.
Many seatings inside :) We had it for the first time and they were so good!! Me and younger son got medium and older one for HOT. Glad we decided either medium because Hot was way hot to finish (one of the kid had hot).
