CATALUNA JAX

Came here after it was highly recommended on instagram, to celebrate my partners’ birthday and Cataluna did not disappoint. I wanted a cool spot that also served delicious food and the beautiful venue was the first thing that caught my eye. I made reservations for Friday evening and I really appreciate them being able to accommodate us when I called that we were running late. The location is on the corner of a shopping plaza which, I’ll be frank, seemed a bit random to me at first because the inside doesn’t match the outside at all. But don’t be deterred!! Ambiance 10/10, our waitress was fabulous, I regret so much not asking for her name again. We started with drinks, I ordered the Clear Mind which was so delicious, very crisp and light. Presentation was beautiful, I will say it was a small amount I think I drank it in two gulps but I’m not mad, the waitress explained how it takes like 24 hours to clarify so I recommend you order it just don’t complain about the cost! I also ordered the Mediterranean Sunset which was yummy. We started with the salmon tartare, braised pork belly, and grilled octopus plus they had complimentary bread. I didn’t care for the tartare, but I knew it wasn’t going to be a crowd favorite, I mostly ordered it for the caviar on top. The octopus though, wow 10/10 highly recommend. When we’re back we’ll definitely be ordering 2! For entrees he got the Ribeye with rosemary butter which was amazing. I don’t even like the taste of rosemary but even I enjoyed it. I ordered the Scallops Hokkaido which were cooked to perfection and we did a side of asparagus. By this point we are bursting but I really wanted to see if they’d bring out sparklers if I mentioned it was his birthday. I obviously didn’t want to be that person so I just mentioned that it was his birthday and if they could put a little birthday sign on his dessert. And they did not disappoint 👏👏👏 out came the sparklers, I was so excited, he was mortified but smiled through the whole thing. Like I said, at this point we were stuffed but I ordered the molted dulce de leche which is a perfect spin on the classic chocolate because I don’t like chocolate. Suffice to say, it was also perfect, ate the whole thing. Overall, highly recommend trying Cataluna. It was most affordable that we thought considering all the food we ordered. Small note, our waitress explained that on Friday and Saturdays, the DJ comes out at 10pm and then the fire dancers come out around 11 so if we wanted to be there for all that to show up around 9:30ish. We’ll definitely be back for that!!

Beautiful place with such a great atmosphere! Mia was a wonderful server, and the starters were delicious. The entrées were good, but a little plain compared to everything else. Overall, we had a really great experience and would definitely recommend!

A lovely dining experience. The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming from start to finish. The food was good, the bar did an excellent job, and the crème brûlée was absolutely outstanding. Definitely worth coming back.
