We are visiting from southern NJ, and we were looking for a nearby church for Mass. We decided to walk thru the neighborhood after mass at St. Paul Catholic Church, and searched Google for a place to eat near the water. The description of Carolina Jax sounded perfect and it was! Our burgers were AMAZING! We also enjoyed the Sweet potato fries, although I think they were perfect enough and don't need the Cinnabutter. The decor was hometown industrial. We loved the Neon signs, and the short order cooks were serving meals with a quick precision like a well oiled machine!! This "Joint was Jumpin' " with customers for Eat In and take out. I would love to go back for just a milkshake some day. We can see why this place got best burgers. I also enjoyed the "gi-hugic" Historical Local map of Jacksonville on the wall. This is a great spot in an historic district. We highly recommend Carolina Jax!!!😁
I’m gonna assume these patties are handmade by the way they look. They look like old school hand made hamburger patties…Y’all know the kind that you push flat with your hands.. well that’s what these patties look like. I’m sure the meat is pre-weighed these burgers look huge. The buns of small- burgers are really big but there’s a lot of space in between the burger is making them look so larg it justifies them charging you 12 bucks $23 for a combo. WOW I didn’t realize it was six dollars for the sweet potato fries. Wow is but I have to admit the burger is damn delicious. The Pepsi fountain drink has a pretty cool selection. The tea is all right. I definitely will be coming back. I just won’t be ordering the damn fries for six bucks.
We were going to try a new spot in San Marco but they were over whelmed with the line and stopped serving at 6 pm on a Friday. So I over heard someone say let’s go to Carolina Jax they never disappoint. It was only 10 min away from where at m we were so we also went. They also were packed no open tables but we ordered. The line went smooth for was coming out and it was good!! I love me a good burger and this was on point! I had the bacon cheddar and he the Hurricane. Both burgers delish! Not greasy and the Jax fries were yummy! Coupled with two shakes made for a good dinner. I will def be back!
In my 54 years on this earth, I have never had a burger this good! I ordered the Hurricane, and my wife got the Classic. We also shared a basket of Cajun-seasoned fries and two drinks, and I was blown away by the incredible flavor of the meat and the deliciousness of everything else. The fries were amazing too. I’d give this place 10 stars if I could. The staff is friendly and very fast, and I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves outstanding food.
Found Carolina Jax via a quick Google search. So glad I did. First off, what guy from North Carolina wouldn't love the name? While I dont know the history of the place when the burger is this good you can look it up later. 11:24am I walk in and the place is packed. Local families, a hockey guy (that'd be me) a Sergeant with the local SO picking up food for four and two tourists that seemed confused. When I walked out 5 minutes later (I pre-ordered) the line was out the door. The burger. Damn near perfect. It was so good for $11 that I should have gotten two. Fries. Couldn't even finish them and it wasnt for lack of trying. Frankly it was amazing. It was consider moving here good. Its the kind of place you should read about in Garden and Gun Magazine. Don't believe me, check out the pics!
