Really enjoyed our dinner. We had the Brussel sprouts appetizer, snapper and scallops and all were delicious. Drinks were good too. They were full for reservations except 5:15 and when we got there, there were a lot of open tables, so I think they only offer a few reservations for how much seating they have. Seems odd for a finer dining experience.
My husband and I chose this restaurant to celebrate our first wedding anniversary because we wanted an elevated dining experience for such a special milestone.Overall, the food was good, and I have to give credit where it's due—the 10 oz. New York Strip was cooked perfectly. It was tender, flavorful, and exactly as ordered. My disappointment came with the presentation of the Steak & Frites. I specifically ordered this entrée because of the beautiful photo featured on the online menu. The advertised dish showcases the steak sliced and elegantly fanned with the fries artfully stacked, creating the refined presentation you'd expect from an upscale restaurant. Unfortunately, what was served looked nothing like the photo. The steak was left whole, the fries were simply piled on the plate, and the overall presentation felt surprisingly underwhelming. I understand that menu photos are representative, not exact replicas, but this wasn't a minor difference—it felt like an entirely different presentation. At a $50 price point, and at a restaurant that prides itself on an elevated dining experience, presentation is part of what guests are paying for. Especially when celebrating a once-in-a-lifetime occasion like a first wedding anniversary, those details matter. The quality of the food itself deserves praise, which is why I'm giving this review with the hope that the kitchen pays more attention to consistency between what's advertised and what's served. A beautifully cooked steak deserves equally thoughtful presentation.
Our evrning at Burlingame was nothing short of AMAZING!! Michelin Star quality start to finish! A true adventure for even the most discerning of palates! Every selection was artfully presented and surprised you with flavors and textures that blended together to deliver joy with every bite. It was a foodie's paradise! The staff is delightful and works together like a well oiled machine to ensure the ultimate dining experience. They're friendly, attentive, knowledgeable of the menu options. and make you feel like a valued guest from arrival to departure. The ambiance is perfect as well. Many thanks to Tanner for getting us in to celebrate our son's birthday and to Jillian for her outstanding service! If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience, Burlingame is an absolute must! How very fortunate we are to have one of the finest of restaurants in Fernandina Beach!!
Date: May 2025 Note: a bit upscale, so prices are high and portions are on the smaller end. Reservations are highly encouraged and there isn't a dedicated parking lot (typical for the area) 10/10! The food was absolutely amazing and the staff was wonderful. Every member you walked by greeted you with a smile. Very unique flavors combined on every plate we ordered. Even the vegetarian option had a variety of flavors that somehow didn't override one another. The location is beautiful, and the outdoor seating was surprisingly bareable for Florida in a 90°F+ day. The food is on the more expensive side and the portions are a bit small in comparison to your less expensive restaurants, but the portions don't leave you hungry as they are portioned to what you should eat, you're just unlikely to have leftovers.
I guess I should not have been surprised that the restaurant was excellent, since I am but one of dozens of people that have so rated it, but it still exceeded my expectations. David was a great server and explained everything and knew more that just the superficial ingredients. We got the back story and interesting anecdotes. We will be back, as we have plans to visit Amelia Island again in a month and I have already made reservations. We are bringing some friends to enjoy the food and service.
