I orderd the 1/4 bird, dark meat medium. My husband ordered the half. Both of the dark pieces were dried out. Seems as if it was cooked earlier in the day and placed in oven and dried over time. They stayed in over so long the meat dried out as well. The breast and will however, was fresh and steaming with plenty of flavor. We also orded the pimento fritters. They were big and full of flavor.
The fried chicken is out of this world! It's fried to perfection and the flavor is exceptionally delicious! Our order taker, Lydia, was very informative and helpful as we were going through the process of decision making regarding each of our preferred "heat" and sides. By the way, the crinkle cut fries are seasoned perfectly, and we weren't disappointed with the mac-n-cheese either!!! Overall, absolutely delicious!!! We'll definitely be back!!!
If I could leave zero stars, I would. This review doesn’t come lightly. My husband and I have been coming here for years. We celebrated the births of both of our sons here, have hosted work conferences here, and have recommended this restaurant to countless friends and family. We’ve always had wonderful experiences, which makes today’s visit even more disappointing. We ordered three meals for our family, which is normal for us with a one-year-old and a five-year-old. We also often order extra ranch because our children like it with their food, and we’ve never had an issue paying for additional sauces. When our food arrived, the chicken that was supposed to be spiced clearly wasn’t. We politely mentioned it, but instead of simply checking, the server immediately became argumentative and confrontational. After speaking with the kitchen, she eventually returned with the seasoning, confirming there had been a mistake, but never acknowledged it or apologized. We were initially given only one ranch for three meals, so we asked for more and even stated we were happy to pay for any extras. Rather than simply bringing another ranch or charging us, the situation escalated unnecessarily. The server, along with another staff member from the kitchen, came to our table holding the receipt to point out that we’d already received one extra ranch. They stood over our table arguing with us while our two young children were becoming increasingly upset and crying. It wasn’t about the ranch. It was about how we were treated. We were polite throughout and simply wanted enough sauce for our food. The confrontational attitude was completely unnecessary and made what should have been a pleasant family meal incredibly uncomfortable. The owners are genuinely lovely people, which makes this even sadder to write. Unfortunately, based on today’s experience, we will not be returning, nor will we be recommending this restaurant to others. No customer—especially a family with young children—should feel like they’re being argued with over something so trivial. The food wasn’t the problem. The service and the way we were treated were.
I’ve been to Bold Birds a few times over the past two years and I always have a great experience. The hot chicken is a nice slow burn and is crispy every time, and their collard greens are good. Fries are seasoned and crisp, and the salads are good too. Can’t believe I’m just now writing a review! Want hot chicken? Go to Bold Birds.
🔥 Bold Birds Nashville Hot Chicken - A Must-Try Spot! 🔥 I had the 1/4 chicken and was blown away by how juicy it was. The skin had a perfect crunchy batter that packed flavor in every bite. The chicken tenders were massive and juicy — you definitely get your money’s worth! The cheese fries with bacon were a standout — crispy, cheesy, and topped with delicious, flavorful bacon. The pimento cheese fritters were a melt-in-your-mouth experience with a perfectly crunchy coating. The wings were thick, juicy, and had a great crust — no dry bites here. The comeback sauce was loaded with flavor and had just the right kick to remind you you’re alive. The macaroni and cheese felt like something your grandma would proudly serve at Sunday dinner — creamy, cheesy, and comforting. All of the hot sauces are made in-house and bring their own unique twist. The Mother Clucker sauce features habaneros, while the Hotter than a Mother Clucker brings the heat with ghost peppers — perfect if you're up for a challenge. I’ll definitely be back with family or friends — great food in a fun, casual environment that delivers on taste and value!
