Blue Bamboo continues to remind us why it’s one of Jacksonville’s longtime favorites. Tonight wasn’t our first visit—we just happened to be the first guests through the door for dinner. We settled into our favorite little round booth tucked beside the Mandarin Bar and enjoyed those rare, quiet moments before the evening came to life. Celebrating 21 years in business, Blue Bamboo has created more than a restaurant—it has created a place where people gather. The dark navy walls, elegant brass sconces, and black-and-white family photographs give the space warmth, character, and a sense of history. We started with the beautifully folded Crab Rangoon, Chicken Lettuce Wraps, and hot and sour soup before enjoying the Honey Chicken with Vegetable Fried Rice. Every dish was fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and beautifully presented. A special thank-you to our waitress, who was also tending bar. She was the definition of hospitality—a consummate professional with a bright smile, genuine warmth, and impeccable service. When she brought our togo bag to the table, she smiled and said, “Here’s your Dior, darling!” Amy and I laughed out loud. It’s those little moments that turn a great meal into a memorable evening. By the time we were leaving, happy-hour guests were arriving for martinis, and the restaurant had transformed into a lively neighborhood gathering place. Before we left, the owner stopped by our table to ask how everything had been. Our answer was simple: “Stellar.” Congratulations to the entire Blue Bamboo team on 21 years of serving Jacksonville. The food is exceptional, but it’s the people, the atmosphere, and the genuine hospitality that keep us coming back. Highly recommended. 🤍
We checked out Blue Bamboo and it’s a unique spot in Jacksonville if you’re looking for a modern take on Chinese cuisine. We tried the red curry chicken and waffles (surprisingly good) and the General Tso’s, which was a little different than usual but still hit. The robot food delivery was actually pretty cool and added a fun touch to the experience. The location feels nice and a bit upscale without being too formal, making it a solid dinner choice in Jax. The roast duck was excellent. I ordered the shrimp with salmon and a cabbage base. The shrimp was delicious but the salmon was overcooked. The chef was very friendly and offered solutions. The service was on point and professional. The creme brulee was actually the best part. All desserts are made in house.
We had a wonderful meal. There is a curry noodle dish with salad and chicken that my mother had. We split the dragon whiskers (zucchini strings with a ranch dressing with chive oil). My husband enjoyed the basil miso glazed salmon with vegetables and rice. I enjoyed the green curry shrimp and salmon with vegetables and rice. Not too spicy, but great seasoning. We also had garlic and ginger baby bok choy, and Szechuan eggplant, which all of us enjoyed, including my husband who doesn't like eggplant. All of us had leftovers, and felt spoiled.
I 🩷 Blue Bamboo!! The food is always outstanding! The service is wonderful! I had the sweet and sour chicken lunch special. 🤌 Phenomenal!! It was my dads birthday so we got him a piece of Mandrin Orange Cake!
