Got it — here’s a professional, factual, but clearly negative review that sticks to your experience and avoids anything that could be dismissed as emotional or exaggerated. You can post this on Google, Yelp, or with your insurance company. ⸻ ⭐☆☆☆☆ I selected College Automotive to repair my truck following an accident, and unfortunately my experience has been extremely disappointing. The shop billed my insurance company for repairs that were either not completed properly or not completed at all. Specifically, the rack and pinion was billed as replaced, yet after experiencing continued issues, I sought three alignments and two independent second opinions, all of which confirmed that the rack and pinion was not functioning properly and may not have been replaced. Since the repair, my truck has been returned to College Automotive three separate times due to ongoing problems, including a knocking noise when turning left. The rack and pinion installed was a remanufactured part that should be under warranty, yet the shop has refused to honor the warranty or take responsibility for the faulty repair. Additionally, I was told the shop had communicated with my insurance company regarding these issues, which later proved to be untrue. I trusted this business with a major repair and relied on their honesty and workmanship. Unfortunately, the lack of accountability, refusal to warranty a clearly defective part, and misrepresentation of communication with my insurer make it impossible for me to recommend this shop.
We had been bringing our other vehicle here for some time and believed this was a trusted small business. Because of that, I felt comfortable bringing in another car for what should have been a simple service: new brakes only. When I dropped the car off, the owner said, “I’ll tell you what you need.” Looking back, that should have been my first red flag. After several hours, additional repairs were suggested. Based on a previous bad experience with another vehicle, we reluctantly agreed to one additional item. When we picked the car up, it immediately began making loud noises and vibrations it never had before. At first, I assumed new brakes might need minor adjustment, but to be safe we brought it back. They kept the car all day again, only to say it now needed even more work and that it “wasn’t their fault—anything can go bad at any time.” That response caused a lot of frustration and anxiety and seriously made us question their integrity. Our car did not have these issues before the service. We ultimately chose not to let them touch our vehicle again. We are a family, and we shouldn’t have to worry about being taken advantage of by a shop that inspects vehicles and then tells customers “what they need” after the fact. I’ve felt aggravated, sad, and confused by this experience. I used to refer people here—never again.
Well College Automotive has been such a huge Blessing to me. I’ve been coming here for 10 years and have no reason to look anywhere else for all my automotive issues. I am sure that Dennis and his crew have God working through them 🙏! . What a professional, kind , informative comfortable, knowledgeable and just simply wonderful experience this shop is. I will highly recommend them to anyone having auto issues . Dennis will explain everything to you and if they can or can’t help , how much time , how much cost . Everything I’ve needed to help me with concerns & problems for my car has always been explained patiently with all information I’ve needed . Dennis and his also kind professional crew have helped me beyond any service experience with something so very necessary as my car . I can’t say enough good but that I was sent to College Automotive Specialist by God because they are truly earth angels. Better to get a second opinion. I went back to this folks after a bad experience last month and I wanted to give them the benifits of my doubt though they proved me right again. Going in for them to check a oil leak and do a prevention check before a road trip... As per Dennis my vehicle was two quarts low on oil and even though they just changed my oil two thousand miles ago they wanted me to get a new oil change. (I run mobile 1 synthetic and change ever 5K. ) *** as per this picture I was only a half a quart low. Plus they say I have a bad oil leak which after going to another shop. They let me know it's not as bad as Dennis said. This day, I came first thing in the AM and dropped off car to be seen. I promply received a call from Dennis who went on to check out my car for FREE and recommended to change the belts which were older and that made sense . They gave me price of $195 for an oil change, change out of two belts and also the breather box filter. I asked to call him back and went on to confer the price and work with my spouse and also to see prices for belts at the local parts house to help save some money on the repairs. I then went to get the parts in town that were less and went back to College Auto to ask to bring my own oil and belts to save on the repair costs. In which he agreed to change two belts and add the oil, instead of the oil change for $90.00. Dennis let me have an earful and said it would be the last time they would let me use my own parts for the repair. He went on to compare what I was doing to bringing a steak to a steakhouse and asking them to cook it. I understood and respecting his point and I gladly agreed to take my business elsewhere and left. Dennis got me to spend $400 with him just last month on my mothers car and it was the same thing, streching the truth to get you to spend money. It's not convenient to shop around prices with car repairs and that is how these folks survive, hoping you don't shop around and believe what they say without double checking. Get a second opinion before you spend a lot of money. You'll be surprised what you learn. Ladies, don't go here alone, bring a man who is familiar with car mechanics to help you talk and always trust your gut feeling. Trust yet verify.
Take your car here if you want rude customer service, poor quality repairs, and fabricated jobs they claim they performed on the vehicle.
