In the times I’ve visited St Augustine I’ve found myself here multiple times each time I come. They have the classic pub feeling that is missing from so many places now. It has character, and shows a genuine pride in the service of the patrons that is initially apparent when you walk in the door. Being in LE and former Mil myself, it makes a huge impact on me to see a place that supports our LE, FD, and military so openly. The service is amazingly good, friendly, and welcoming. They have open mic, trivia and plenty of regulars with stories to tell. The prices are possibly the most reasonable in town. The sandwiches are also not something to be slept on. They would have been at home in any deli and most restaurants we’ve visited in our trips here. If you are in the area, stop by and have a beer. It’ll take you at least 2-3 to appreciate all the memorabilia on the walls, then another 2-3 to talk to the people there, which by that time you may as well grab a sandwich and make a night of it.
I have spent some time working in the food service. I have to say for the small bar, no bar back, tiny kitchen I mean tiny they are doing a phenomenal job. Did it take a minute for the food sure, however it was well worth the wait. The staff has been friendly and plays with my groups jokes on top being busy for a Memorial Day weekend. A gal was singing and playing guitar not too loud just enough to hear her and our conversations. She was great as well. If you made it this far please give them the grace of being absolutely tiny and doing the best possible. Highly recommend the sandwiches. The pot pie soup of the day hit the spot on top of it. They deserve higher rating. If you think because you ordered and it’s been 10 minutes ago complain at the Karen center for caring.
Beers cold & fresh, Guinness served proper & Half n half’s (black ‘n tans, snake-bites, Brian Boru’s) separated by science brilliantly… food good ‘n fast (soup was right good! 👍) local craft Florida Irish red ales (& Smithwick’s) ready for your enjoyment! Outdoor seatin’, limited spots, but ‘tis available.
Beer was nice and cold. Our sandwiches were very tasty. The atmosphere is just how you would want it. The service was slow. Lots of folks at the bar and him trying to keep track of everyone's orders.
5 points for having decent Guinness on tap, especially full imperial pints. As for the guinness: Very good quality but the gas mix is slightly off. Took 15 minutes to settle and still ended up with a bishop's collar. Creaminess lacking due to settle time. Guinness rating 3/5.
