I wanted a few days at the beach and even though I only live 40 miles from here, I decided to take the camper. The spaces were clean and private, lots of foliage between spaces and very reasonably priced for a senior. My husband delivered the camper and me. I figured I'd rent a bicycle to get back and forth to the beach. It's 1/2 to 1 mile away from most camp spots. They had specials for campers and overnight rentals, which I took advantage of. The bike wasn't the best, but it did the job. I will be back. Probably frequently, so I'll get my own. There's a beach grill for breakfast sandwiches and lunches or ice cream. The beach is beautiful, lots of birds, quite a few pelicans flying by or fishing off shore. It isn't crowded, although it the middle of the week in August...hot... but the water was wonderful, beach great for walking and camp space was great. Even had a beautiful Florida sunste! All in all, a Five Star review!
Beautiful park with lots of amenities. We stayed at the campground, and were able to travel through out, on our bikes. The beach was beautiful and not crowded. We saw lots of turtles and other wildlife.
We visited the park twice while staying in the St Augustine beach area. It was worth the $8 admission. We walked all the trails as well as the beach. It was a good birding area. As it was migration season, we found quite a number of shore birds working their way north. The highlights were the Clapper Rails living in the marsh we saw from the elevated walkway from the parking lot to the beach. I actually got to submit two banded bird sightings of Wilson's Plovers, one from each visit. It was nice to walk a natural beach with the intact dunes and no housing. Certainly a worthwhile stop on a vacation!
This is an island so it was kind of fun getting there, the drive was beautiful, over the bridge. There is a walkway that takes you up to a point where you can look out over the ocean, and there is also a path for you to go down to the beach. We went down to check out campground in the park, and decided we would like to spend a week there. It seems like it would be a good bicycle riding destination. There is a cute little gift shop and snack bar right before the beach. And it's a great little spot to pick up some snacks and drinks. The gift shop has some cute trinkets and fun stuff. And of course, we had to shop.
Very natural seaside experience. Park Rangers at the entrance are very helpful with directions and are professional. Scenic. There are restrooms adjacent to the snack bar near the ocean. Ample parking with Handicap spaces available. My Fiancee' and I are getting married at the park in May.
