I ordered a calzone it came with marinara. I have the calzone and I was out of marinara, and when I asked for more marinara, they wanted to charge me more for it. When all I did was give me a small ramekin or a cup of marinara even the people at the bar thought it was ridiculous. It was only $.50 but I had already closed out my tab and didn’t want to run my card again for 50 Cent so I went out to my car and didn’t have any change out there. Thankfully a kind lady at the bar had $.54 in her purse. And she quite properly paid for it. I thanked her. But you shouldn’t sell a dish that you don’t even serve enough sauce with to go with it and then charge more to go with the sauce for the dish you already ordered. I’m a lifelong Beach citizen and that was bad customer service… So I called the restaurant upon returning my car to let them know that I was gonna leave poor report about their service and I was hung up on when I started to talk to them. So I’ve called them back and it was the same Bartender that I must have ordered my lunch from because she said it was her policy and that she had to charge me for the extra sauce. My question, why would you serve me a dish that doesn’t have enough sauce for me to finish it. Also, I’ve already paid my check. I used my Apple Pay. I don’t have any change and you want me to give you $.54 for sauce that I should’ve gotten in the first place. And she said well that’s our policy and she hung up on me. I never got to talk to a manager. I love this place. I’ve been going there since I was a kid, but all I did was ask a question and I was treated like I was some kind of nobody. I had already paid for my dinner and my beer. All I wanted was some sauce to go with my calzone because they didn’t give me enough sauce. I gave them the opportunity to explain their policy to me with the phone and so now I’ve posted this on Google in the hopes that management will have a conversation with the employee and maybe their entire team about customer service. This was at 2:00 PM during the day and there was nobody up there. It’s not like I was causing a nuisance. It’s one of my favorite places to go so I stopped by there but now I’m not going there anymore because I’m boy pouting them until I get an apology or a better explanation for why I was cheating so boring. And actually, not just me. Nobody should be treated so poorly if that Bartender doesn’t like her job so much that she has to be mean to people then she should find a new job and if Al, it’s gonna serve a calzone at least get enough sauce to eat my calzone. I know Al is a feature in the beaches culinary scene and I respect that. Just do the right thing and treat people properly. I choose in my business on it and if I have a customer who is unhappy, I’m gonna try and make them happy. They did not try to make me happy at all. All I can say is just very disappointed that one if Als restaurant would be like this to a community and to a local and to a customer that has yes supported his restaurants for life.
Love this creative pizza and more spot. Classy interior, cool staff. Interesting combinations. Very reasonable for the quality. Worth the wait, made to order.
I just ordered an Italian sub from Al’s in Neptune Beach when I got home the roll wasn’t a day old, it seemed like it was three day old. Although I do like the insides of the sub I was really disappointed in the roll and ditch it and ate the insides. If I lived closer I would have returned it. I understand trying not to waste product, but you lost a customer. With the price of everything, at least make it worth the $13 bucks,
Grew up in Atlantic beach, biking to ALs and enjoying a slice. Now when I visit with my family, it’s the first place we eat at. Pizza hasn’t changed in the 30 years I’ve been going there. Our service was exceptional, the food was delicious and the outdoor dining was perfect.
We've been ordering Al's Pizza via Door Dash for years and finally decided to visit the restaurant since the food has always been consistently awesome. The place was very clean, friendly employees and the accent wall with the wood accents was super cool. The waitress was very attentive. The food was even better than delivery. My husband loves the meatball sub. We both love the pizza and tried many variations. We plan to return sometime for dinner to try the more traditional dishes. Their crust is perfect! Light, crispy and thin, the way we like it. Very good marinara sauce. Their salads include spring mix and are very healthy. The individual pizza slices they offer are so good! I love the deluxe veggie slice! It has so many fresh vegetables and plenty of cheese! Al's Pizza is a gem of a restaurant and we love them!!
