Question 1

What time do bars close in St. Augustine?

Accepted Answer

Last call in St. Johns County is generally 2 a.m., and most downtown bars serve until then on Friday and Saturday. Many close earlier on weeknights, and brewery taprooms often close between 9 and 11 p.m. Beach bars vary by season. Check hours the day you go, since some places shift schedules between summer and winter.

Question 2

How many breweries are in St. Augustine and St. Johns County?

Accepted Answer

Roughly a dozen breweries operate across the county, with the biggest cluster in and near downtown St. Augustine and along US 1, plus taprooms on Anastasia Island, in Palencia, near World Golf Village and in the north county around CR 210 and Nocatee. The number changes as new ones open. Our listings are the current set.

Question 3

Are St. Augustine breweries kid and dog friendly?

Accepted Answer

Most taprooms welcome kids and leashed dogs, at least on the patio, during the day and early evening. Some switch to 21 and up after 8 or 9 p.m. or on event nights. Florida rules on dogs apply mainly to places serving food, so policies differ. Call or check the brewery's page before bringing the whole family.

Question 4

How much does a beer cost in St. Augustine?

Accepted Answer

A pint of house beer at a local brewery runs about 7 to 9 dollars in 2026, and a flight of four tasters is 12 to 18. Domestic drafts at sports bars are 4 to 6, craft drafts 7 to 9, and cocktails downtown 12 to 16. Rooftop and bayfront bars charge a premium. Happy hour at restaurant bars usually takes 1 to 3 dollars off.

Question 5

Where are the best bars with a view in St. Augustine?

Accepted Answer

The bayfront along Avenida Menendez has several bars with Matanzas Bay views, a few downtown hotels have rooftop bars with views of the fort and the Bridge of Lions, and Vilano Beach, St. Augustine Beach and Crescent Beach have oceanfront and Intracoastal bars along A1A. Sunset is the rush, so arrive 45 minutes early or plan on standing.

Question 6

Can breweries in Florida sell beer to go?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Florida breweries can fill growlers in 32, 64 and 128 ounce sizes and sell cans and crowlers to go from the taproom. Prices run about 12 to 22 for a 64-ounce growler fill and 5 to 7 per 16-ounce can. Most places will fill a clean growler from another brewery as long as it is the right size and labeled properly.
