My colleague had a total hip replacement with Dr. Pujadas. While the surgery itself went well, her post-surgical follow-up was a terrible experience. When she went in to have her staples removed, a nurse/medical assistant named Hailey came in and roughly yanked her leg open, causing her immediate pain. This inappropriate handling resulted in a deep, bleeding hematoma at the surgical site. When confronted, Hailey admitted what she had done. Despite this shocking admission, she was only reprimanded and continues to work directly with patients. My colleague has tried to obtain an incident report from the office manager and filed a complaint with JOI Patient Relations, but has received no response from either. She is now left in pain, with a large hematoma requiring a second opinion and more out-of-pocket cost. We both work in healthcare and would never treat a patient this way, especially someone recovering from major surgery. The lack of accountability and patient safety oversight at JOI is deeply concerning.
Dr Pujadas is an excellent surgeon. He repaired a torn meniscus on me, knee replacement on my dad, ankle surgery on my brother and pins in both sides of my mom's pelvis. He is the kindest doctor I have had the pleasure of working with. He has a great bedside manner. He genuinely cares about his patients, I would sincerely recommend him to anyone. He is highly experienced and educated.
Worked with Dr Pujadas for many years in surgery. The best hands down total joint specialist and orthopedic surgeon. Highly recommended and have referred Family and Friends to his care that were very satisfied in his patient approach, care and compassion.
Great nurses and staff. A very knowledgeable and personable PA that assist him. Dr. Pujadas, talks with you and not at you. He is pleasant and makes sure you understand what he is going to do, has done and follows up with you after surgery. He is the best in Northeast Florida.
I got a right hip replacement last year. My surgery wasvperformed by William George Pujadas, MD of the Jax. Orthapedic Institute. My new chromium hip replacement is helping me not limp anymore. Thank you Dr. Pujadas for expediting my surgery and helped me get in sooner because of a cancelation of another patient. May God bless you.
