I have several deer that visit the woods in our backyard. I Heard a little fawn crying in the woods for a span of 2 days.. momma nowhere to be found. I did not want to intervene right away, so, I first reached out to local wildlife management to explain the situation. They put me in touch with Lisa at Wildlife Rescue Coalition. It was time to intervene as the little fawn was getting weak and dehydrated. I followed Lisa’s instructions and gave the fawn small amounts of Pedialyte to hydrate. Within 5 hours or so, the little guy was perking up. Lisa was willing to take the fawn and nurse him back to health. We took him to the facility and immediately felt like this was indeed the best place for the care of the fawn. Immediately the fawn was placed with two other rescue fawns and think he thought they were his long lost cousins. Lisa gave the fawn the white tail deer formula and he settled in nicely to his new surroundings. I am a die hard animal lover and hate to see any animal hurt or in distress. I am so thankful for this animal facility and the care it gives its animals. If you read this…. The Coalition operates on donations only! And has the best volunteers helping out.. but when I saw the amount of food that it took to feed the animals at the facility it was quite shocking! I asked Lisa several questions about how she is able to feed all of these animals on a donations based system. She was quick to explain that she has a lot of help from the surrounding community, but still the needs sometimes out pace the donations… The Coalition has an Amazon Wishlist that they update with current needs.. and they would welcome and love the support! ❤️ I will continue my support! Very awesome people took in a joey opossum orphan & a sick young raccoon to be checked out. Quick response rare to find with wildlife rescues.
I've taken three baby marsh bunnies there over the last three days and they taken them so willingly. All they ask are for contributions, fosters or volunteers.
These people are doing great things while enduring sleepless nights and heartbreak. Please help them to help our precious wildlife and donate what you can!
What a big deception, I'm feeling very frustrated. I found one Opossum injured in my yard. I called this place and have just one machine. I grab the animal myself and drive 45 minutes to this place, arriving there what I found?? It was one total abandoned place. Looks like no body go there for so long time.. The yard is full of empty crate and they don't have one animal or person there. I just come back home with the animal and I gave to him the first aid care and left him go. As an ex volunteer of SPCA Wildlife of Bay Area California, I know what that animal was in need but I'm not able to give him without a professional orientation. YOU CAN IMAGINE MY FEELING?! Google and called so many places and zero help. I just moved to Jacksonville from California and I don't know well here. But I'm feeling so sad.
