Warren W. Schell Jr. Memorial Park

There is not much to this park. It is about one square city block in size. There is a grassy field which was being grazed by Canada geese on this particular day. There are benches, a bike rack, sidewalks and two full-size basketball courts. Hogans Creek and two ponds are also part of the park. A couple holes from a disc golf course extend into Schell Memorial Park. An old white stone bridge crosses the creek. Like many other parks in town, there is a sign warning of the high bacteria content in the water, which makes it dangerous to drink. Google Maps shows the area all being called Henry J. Klutho Park, however the northwest segment of the this park between Jefferson and Boulevard St is actually Warren W. Schell Jr. Memorial Park. Google Maps does not label it as such, but if you enter it into the search bar it does take you to the correct segment of land.

We go there almost daily now a days. Its nice if you want to play some basketball, catch some rays in this Florida heat or walk through the Springfield parks and play some disk golf. It's usually fairly empty too.

Great basketball court. No shade though.
