We first visited Porpoise Point on a weekday evening in September 2026. We walked Vilano Beach around to Porpoise Point, where the Matanzas River meets the Atlantic Ocean, to watch the sun set, as sailboats and birds passed by. We also took the boat out on a weekend in September 2026 from Vilano Landing Boat Ramp and saw some porpoises swimming by our boat. Plenty of boats were anchored near the sandy coast of the Point, relaxing in the sunshine. What a gorgeous place to see the sunset, and an awesome opportunity to see porpoises swimming nearby!
Love the drive on beach. Must have a 4 wheel drive. Relaxing place. Usually a great place to relax, fish and have your dog with you. Nothing to complain about. Listen to the waves, enjoy the view and disconnect from the world. My picture is from the intercoastal side with a view of Old St. Augustine.
Vilano Beach is a great, quiet beach with a relaxed vibe and not too much current. Just make sure you have a 4x4 vehicle if you want to drive and park on the sand. It makes everything much easier because you can keep all your beach gear handy and enjoy the day without carrying everything back and forth. For locals, the yearly beach pass is around $60, which is a great deal if you plan to visit often.
Beautiful views! Convenient drive in beach location. You can almost always spot a few dolphins feeding off the coast. Light house in the background on one side and the large cross on the other side. Highly recommend !
Dolphins are a very common site here. In fact, there is a dolphin tour nearby and it comes here to see the dolphins. Cap can almost guarantee it because they're always here.
