Wonderful opportunity to learn about a part of our country's naval history. Ship is in wonderful condition, the staff is extremely knowledgeable, and its an at your own pace tour so you can spend as much time as you like reading, asking questions, and looking at everything! Definitely recommend if you have an interest in ships, war history or just looking for something interesting to do for a few hours! Parking is plentiful and free!
Brought the kids to see something new. Got to travel throughout the ship on a mostly self-guided tour. Very interesting and cool piece of US and naval history. The prices on their website are accurate and fairly priced for this adventure. All the staff were knowledgeable and friendly. All in all we had a great time! The kids already want to go again. As a friendly heads up disclaimer if you go, remember that it is a WW2 Destroyer, so the stairs from deck to deck are steep and narrow, bulk heads may require a big step to go through, some doors are small, passageways are narrow and certain rooms/areas are small and cramped.
I recently visited the USS Orleck Naval Museum, and it was a really interesting experience. Walking through the historic destroyer gave me a close look at what life was like for sailors in the Navy. The exhibits, equipment, and stories about the ship’s service made the visit both educational and memorable. I especially enjoyed exploring the different sections of the ship and learning about its role in military history. It was a great place to visit and I would recommend it to anyone interested in naval history.
Highly recommend! Every volunteer was a wealth of knowledge and passionate about the history and stories of the USS Orleck. Self guided with audio, video and written descriptions. It was surprising how much access around the ship you have. Air conditioned areas to escape the heat for a bit. Looking forward to being back for the escape room!
Ok y'all, I never really knew I was closterphobic until our trip!! I'm also afraid of ladders and heights!! Crazeee I didn't want to be a fuddy duddy, but I really couldn't continue the whole tour I half way and waited on hubby to finish. Overall the tour was good, hubby LOVED IT!! 😃
