I’m giving this office 3 stars, and honestly, the 1 star I’m adding is specifically because of the team lead who assisted us during the visit. I didn’t get his name, but he was extremely helpful and professional. The doctors were also very friendly and took the time to explain everything to me in a way that I could actually understand. I truly appreciated that. However, the experience leading up to the appointment was extremely frustrating. I first called to schedule my daughter’s appointment back in May. I was told they could not accept the printed referral from her orthodontist and that I needed to email a copy of my daughter’s dental insurance card. I then contacted the orthodontist and had them send the referral and scans directly to the office. Her orthodontist confirmed with me via email the same day that everything had been sent. I waited the requested 48 hours and called the office to follow up. I was then told that the referral could take up to two weeks to process and that someone would contact me once it was processed. Well, three weeks passed and I never received a call. I eventually had to call the office myself to schedule the appointment. Fast-forward three months from when I initially provided my daughter’s insurance information, and we arrive for her appointment only to be told that they don’t accept her insurance. This is where I have a major issue. Why was I required to provide her insurance information three months earlier if no one was going to verify whether the insurance was accepted? This should have been identified before scheduling the appointment, not when we were already sitting in the office. At that point, I had two choices: pay the $40 out of pocket to have my daughter seen or start the entire referral and scheduling process all over again. Since we had already waited three months, I paid the $40. I want to be clear that the actual visit was a completely different experience from the scheduling process. The doctors were kind, knowledgeable, and explained everything well, and the team lead who assisted us was fantastic. I cannot discredit the positive experience we had once we actually got through the doors. Unfortunately, the poor communication and lack of insurance verification beforehand made the process much more stressful and frustrating than it needed to be. The clinical staff were great. The administrative/scheduling process needs significant improvement.

If you're considering UF but have other options, go with the other options. Another "if i could give this place 0 stars i would" review: My experience with UF began when I was referred to get my wisdom teeth and one other tooth removed. It took WEEKS for them to accept my referral to even make an initial consultation. Arriving at the consultation was jarring. The office was disgusting and clearly unkept. The individual room was even more disgusting and unkept. During this initial consultation, I discussed the treatment plan. I was then told that they would bill my insurance and they would then call me to schedule an appointment. It took them -2 weeks to get back to me to schedule- and then i was scheduled for OVER a month after the initial consultation. (By the appointment to actually pull the teeth, the process would be 4 months from initial referral sent) Three follow up calls occurred, during these follow up calls I made it very clear that I had extensive anxiety and would require my partner to be with me through pre-op. Formerly, I had medical negligence and abuse occur, and I am frightened to go through procedures alone. I was assured on four separate occasions that it would be okay for my partner to be with me through triage and preop. I was reassured several times on how the procedure would be done, and who was aloud with me. Cut to my appointment. I get there, and was immediately told that my partner was to wait in the family waiting room- which is not what i was told on four separate occasions. I obliged, but panicked and began to cry as things were not going to plan. I spoke with the nurses and informed them that if they were not going to follow the procedure that was discussed, i did not find it suitable to continue with the procedure. They assured me that they were grabbing my fiance (they were not). The surgeon came in. I discussed the situation with her and she immediately told me she was just going to intubate me- completely disregarding the issue at hand. I was not nervous about getting my teeth taken out, I was upset because what I was assured of four different times was not occurring. She left, assuring me that they were grabbing my partner and things would go to plan. We discussed rescheduling with a Valium prescription to take before the next scheduled procedure, but I felt that they were completely undermining the issue. The plan for the procedure completely changed- they began trying to convince me to intubate (for a simple procedure) and sent in the anesthesiologists to talk with me. I clarified, once again, that I was not upset about the initial procedure that was scheduled- I was upset that I was blindsided and denied something that I had prior been approved for, and at this point i was upset that they were completely trying to change the procedure as a whole! They kept telling me that they typically only let minor patients have someone with them, but then kept telling me they were getting my partner. They kept telling me noone was denying me, but when I asked who was grabbing me or where he was they told me to wait. Meanwhile, the entire preop room is disgusting, completely disregulated, nurses over the phone are screaming patients personal information out loud- let me reiterate, it was DISGUSTING in there. Finally, after an extensive amount of time, they allow my fiance back and the surgon and both anesthesiologists join us. They once again attempt to convince me that intubation was the only option, that they were unwilling to follow the procedure in the way it was scheduled- at this point i canceled it all and left. I will be seeking out other options for this procedure, and I will never ever ever consider UF for anything ever again. I have never once had such a horrid experience with a professional office. Every need I had was completely disregarded, and every plan that was made was changed- all while sitting in the filthiest room I have probably ever been in.
I was informed weeks ago that I needed a referral in order to be seen, I see my provider in order to get a referral placed. I received a call from someone within the office this morning, who tried to speak to me like I was dumb. I wish I could remember her name but she had an accent and told me they are specialists not general dentistry which I'm fully aware of. I had a referral sent to them, because I am 31 weeks pregnant and suffering with wisdom tooth pain that needs to be extracted which falls within UF Health Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery specialty. I feel like this office just makes excuses not to see someone. I was told I needed a referral, I had a referral placed and I can't cant be seen
My god son needs to see a Dr after an accident. He has an entire facial fracture and needs SURGERY. My best friend had to go so far as emailing the Dr because the staff here couldn’t schedule a simple surgery. My god son can’t even blow his nose because his face is broken and they said oh we can get him in June 2nd. He’s been waiting almost 2 weeks at this point. The front of the house staff here is an utter joke and this could be detrimental for his health because they can’t even schedule and emergency appointment.
There are truly not enough words to thank the teams at UF, the SICU, and the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery team for what they did for Brianna and our family. This was, without question, the most supportive, compassionate, understanding, and collaborative medical team we have ever experienced. Their knowledge was exceptional, but beyond that, they treated us like partners in Brianna’s care. They listened to us as her family, understood her disability and complex needs, respected our ability to advocate and care for her, and remained committed every single day to getting her safely back to baseline after a major surgery. There were so many moments throughout this journey where individuals went far beyond what their job required. I know I will never remember every single name, but there are people who left an impact on our hearts forever. To the OMFS team — you were flawless from beginning to end. Dr. Stephen V was unbelievably kind, patient, and informative every step of the way. From the very first day, he consistently checked in, explained things thoroughly, and helped guide us through one of the hardest moments our family has faced. Dr. Caruso’s team was incredibly attentive and proactive, and we always felt Brianna was in capable hands. To the SICU team — from the night we arrived after surgery, Joie, the charge nurse, stepped in with calmness and reassurance when we were completely panicked. That mattered more than she probably knows. Nurse Amanda cared for Brianna through four day shifts, and honestly, we attribute so much of Brianna’s progress and ability to come home to her. She never missed a beat. Her knowledge, communication, attentiveness, and ability to truly understand Brianna were extraordinary. We have never felt safer with a nurse. Amanda is not only an exceptional professional, but a genuinely wonderful person. Ada stepped into a terrifying moment of crisis, and her presence alone shifted the room from panic to calm. She reacted immediately, helped Brianna breathe, and remained composed through it all. We will never forget her quick thinking, skill, and calm spirit during one of the scariest moments we experienced. To RTs Sandy, Teresa, and Heather — thank you for caring for Brianna so gently and thoroughly. You understood her respiratory needs, kept her safe, explained every adjustment, and made sure our family felt comfortable and informed throughout the process. Your patience and compassion never went unnoticed. Dr. Warner and her team were exceptional in every sense of the word. Brianna has complex disabilities, and instead of allowing those challenges to become barriers, they continuously thought outside the box to make sure she could progress and recover. Their compassion, determination, and creativity truly blew us away. They fought for her recovery and for her to come home. And Mike from the lift team — you are an absolute light. Your passion for what you do radiates through every interaction. The care, leadership, patience, and teamwork you brought during Brianna’s lifts and prone positioning made an incredible difference in her recovery. Watching you explain things to Brianna, count with her, reassure her, and lead the team with confidence was remarkable. You are truly one of a kind. To every remaining staff member at UF — the security staff who greeted us, the reception team before surgery, pre-op nurses, dietary staff, speech therapists, physicians, respiratory staff, PCAs, housekeeping, transport, and every person who touched Brianna’s care — thank you. Thank you for seeing Brianna as a whole person. Thank you for treating her with dignity. Thank you for listening. Thank you for fighting for her recovery alongside us. You helped carry our family through one of the hardest weeks of our lives, and we will never forget it.
