Sitting\nHere sobbing , because I wanted a tubal ligation i was approved for my surgery. The doctor asked if I wanted a birth control method in the meantime.I was so mortified of pregnancy , even though I was completely and totally not sexually active , I said yes , he recommended the depo shot i had never heard of it before. He told me that with long-term use I could gain some weight and that it was gonna make me bleed a little bit more. His words exactly. I thought that meant my periods would be heavier. Unfortunately, what I failed to realize is that this shot was going to make me bleed every day. And now, after doing some research, I am coming to find out that I could bleed every day for the next year. I really feel like I was not able to make informed decision because "you might bleed a little bit more".Was the understatement of the century also, my surgery was canceled because they failed to inform me\n That I could not take\n A rideshare app home and that my younger sister, who's just a little bit younger than 18, couldn't come pick me up in the Uber either. So I'm\nSitting here no tubal burning through pads i just wanted some bodly autonomy, and now I am even more powerless than before.\nBleeding uncontrollably.

I Absolutely love Dr. Martinez Cruz . She has been my children’s primary care physician since the womb. In which has been almost 8 years !! Currently her front desk staff at the UF Health Elizabeth Means Center has their days , some days the staff is great , but today upon checking one of my children in for an appointment , I was given a facial expression as if I shouldn’t be at the front desk and that I’m bothering them. Today’s experience with the front desk was very unpleasant as well as my last visit upon checking out when I was telling the front desk what the provider informed me . I rudely interrupted and shut down and slid papers of my children’s next appointment and time . While the women did not make eye contact but stared into her computer screen saying everything I need is in the stack of papers as well as my children’s excuse not for school. I also did not like the fact I was not offered dates or time for my children’s next appointments . They were selected for me not knowing if I had something else planned that day Or if the time worked for me. I love the Physician Dr. Martinez Cruz , but on the other hand her staff needs to do better.
Edit- it took a while but got things taken care of, I also was able to get an important medine refill from them which was very appreciated Nice people, but I went in with a broken foot to get some work paperwork filled out. When the time came to go back to work, I was told my note wouldn't be accepted because I needed full duty, no big deal, Dr.Bhat sent over the second note, and it still apparently wasn't accepted because of wording, so I asked for one last generic return to work note, and she flat out refused. I called multiple times and each representative said she notated the system that she already sent 2 and she won't send more. I've been trying to get this fixed for OVER A MONTH!!!! Literally all I need to go back to work and she's refusing. I tried one last time today because I got them to accept the note how it's worded, but she never signed the note so I'm really hoping she'll actually send a signed copy, but I'm not holding my breath. I don't have a vehicle, or insurance, been out of work a month longer than I needed to be and it's all because she refuses to send another note. Fine place to go if you don't need important paperwork filled out, if you have important paperwork though definitely don't go here
Love my doctor I hope the does change my Dr. But this is Florida it will nothing stay long
I know everyone will have an opinion about waiting and for how long or the service when going to a clinic or to see a doctor, but I will say I had a fantastic experience with great doctors, nurses, and staff at this location. I haven't been to a doctor in over 2 years because I've had traumatizing experiences and the staff here made me feel comfortable from start to finish. I think if you know you have an appointment (work, lunch, school pick-up) before your scheduled visit, don't take it out on the staff for having to wait. Schedule your visit accordingly. Understand that wait times are inevitable in Jacksonville, and definitely in medical offices. Everyone working is trying as best as they can to see as many patients as they can, and they/we have all had an incredibly draining year and a half and our nurses, and doctors deserve patience and empathy for the work they are doing. I also got my information set up digitally and it is a life saver! All my files saved and easily accessible for future appointments. Got my lab work results back in less than 24 hours and I have never received my lab work back so quickly. If you're a person of color, I would suggest coming here. It put me at ease knowing I could speak freely, but also that I was listened to when I said I had anxiety about past experiences. Hope this helps even one person.
