We move a lot for my husband's job and are used to the big corporate moving companies, so my expectations are high. First, I was surprised how long it took. We moved ALL boxes ourselves prior to, so it was just the disassembly, moving and reassembly of large items. It did take about a full 8 hours. The guys were polite and professional. And we did have all items put into designated rooms (they do state on their website that you can save time by having items put it garage and then moving them to the rooms yourself). Bc of our previous experience with movers, I anticipated this would only take 4-6 hours. Their original estimate was for 8 hours, so they did explain this in the beginning, It was my mistake for estimating off prior experiences. There was one worker who I saw often making trips with one small item (once a lamp shade, once a tiny kids chair) and felt like efficiency could be better with that one worker. Second, many items weren't reassembled properly. Drills were used to secure allen wrench bolts, resulting in stripped bolts. My son's bed has many spare screws and washers that were left, which made me nervous and I should have said something. I didn't notice how rickety the child's bed was until today. But I did call the company regarding the crib and they were very responsive and sent out a handyman. The handyman showed up with like a wrench and screwdriver and loosened the stripped bolt and then told me to call them back anytime I needed the crib adjusted. I said absolutely not, you have to replace these stripped bolts so my crib can function. So he ran to the hardware store and bought a couple replacements - but they didn't match the originals. I think the kicker for me was the taking shortcuts with assembly. I am going to have to have someone come out and fix this bed and wouldn't trust their handyman to do so. Safe and proper assembly should be high priority with children's furniture. As far as the time, they did hold true to their estimate. And this may be standard timing with a lot of local and smaller moving companies - just don't have high corporate-mover expectations (those guys are well oiled machines).
