Since starting at Pioneer School, my son leaves to school in a good mood, comes home in a good mood. (Which was NOT the case in his previous school.) He is coming into his own in an incredibly positive format. He’s thriving. The teachers go above and beyond in every aspect. I cannot say enough good things about Pioneer School. I am so relieved! Last year was not a pleasant experience for either my son nor I. Thank you thank you to all those evolved in making such a wonderful environment for my son!
We love The Pioneer School! The teachers are not only knowledgeable but also genuinely care about their students' growth, both academically and personally. They go WAY above and beyond to create engaging lessons and provide support tailored to each child's needs. Pioneer is a small school that has enough students for everyone to find a friend group, but is small enough that students don't get lost in the masses. Parents are encouraged to be involved, and there are numerous opportunities for us to participate in school events and activities. The administration is approachable and responsive, always working to ensure a positive experience for everyone. Middle School can be a tumultuous time as students navigate new pressures and stressors while also learning about themselves. The teachers and administrators take the time to guide students when they stumble and to help them learn how to be better friends, students, and better people all around. Pioneer has been a fantastic place for my child to grow, learn, and thrive. I highly recommend it to any family looking for a supportive and engaging middle school experience!
Can't speak highly enough of The Pioneer School. If you want to see a place where education comes alive...pop over and see for yourself. Amazing staff, amazing kids, amazing program. Pioneer helped my oldest daughter turn on her little light and start shining brightly. Diverse curriculum, various clubs/activities, every kind of student, one shining mission.
Let me preface this review with two interrelated comments. First, I am a career educator with experience teaching at all educational levels, from elementary through college. Second, my wife and I have sent (so far) four of our children to the Pioneer School. So, I know what quality education looks like, and the Pioneer School provides the best Middle School experience I have ever observed. I have no idea what might prompt a reviewer to suggest that this school fosters disrespect in its students, but our experience has been the precise opposite. The Pioneer School believes in educating the whole person, with the behavioral and ethical component of the child as the highest priority. Pioneer opens its doors to students of all backgrounds and calibers, including students with alternative learning styles and students who have struggled in other educational settings. Naturally this means that some of the students struggle with behavioral issues—but this is in no way the fault of the school culture. In fact, the administrative and faculty decision to accept a variety of students with a variety of learning styles and from a variety of backgrounds is to the great credit of the school, not to its discredit or detriment. One need only attend one of Pioneer’s astounding drama performances or witness the school’s Odyssey of the Mind team in competition or sit through one of the school’s end of the year celebrations to see how careful, compassionate, and comprehensive is the educational experience provided by this school. All of this is to encourage readers of these reviews to take negative reviews with a bucketful of salt. For that matter, take mine with the same—I’m a homer and a fan for life. Go check out the school for yourself, or, more importantly, for the sake of your child’s future.
We sent two of our children to The Pioneer School, and our gratitude and admiration for this wonderful gem in our community knows no bounds. The Pioneer School fosters academic growth, personal responsibility, creative thinking, and character development. The curriculum offered is rigorous, yet flexible to allow for different learning styles and paces. The educators focus on good study habits such as note-taking, active listening, and hands-on learning. It always amazed me that my kids wanted to talk about the lessons they were learning - they were excited about science, and history, and yes, even math - and they were clearly absorbing the material in a very tangible way. In addition to the morning core subjects, my kids LOVED the afternoon classes, with archery and human skills classes ranking as the favorites. Thanks to The Pioneer School, they know how to shoot an arrow, start a fire, and build a wilderness survival structure. They know how to start a garden, sew a button, and balance a checkbook. What stands out to me the most is the kind of humans my children became during their time at Pioneer. I saw their hearts grow in compassion and confidence, developing strong bonds with their teachers and classmates. I saw their leadership skills grow through mentorship opportunities offered at the school. Academically, both of my children flourished and are using the skills they learned at Pioneer to succeed in high school. Both are in honors classes and participating in extracurricular activities, and both are good stewards of their planet and the people they love. The Pioneer School is a wonderful school, and I would highly recommend it without hesitation.
