  My son was always a strong student in elementary school. Middle school proved to be a bigger challenge however, and by 7th grade it was clear that he was struggling with English as the assignments became more advanced. We started the search for a tutor as 7th grade was wrapping up knowing that 8th grade would set the stage for high school. As soon as I found The Nurturing Tutor website and read about Danielle’s background I was pretty sure we found the right person. Now that we have been working with her for almost a year, I am absolutely certain that we did. Danielle not only helps my son with creative writing, essay writing, reading comprehension, and grammar, she works to instill better study and time management habits as well. She helps students understand the “process” of writing, how to break assignments down into manageable tasks, and how to successfully complete each task while being mindful of deadlines. She brings a different viewpoint to teaching than what is found in the classroom setting, sees where a student may be struggling, and tailors the lesson and approach accordingly. She provides a neutral, unintimidating environment for learning that is independent of the in-school teacher/class dynamic and the parent/child dynamic. While grades are important, and my son’s grades have improved significantly, what is even more important is that Danielle has provided a solid foundation for my son to build on and the confidence to know that he can tackle any assignment that comes his way.
