The Fresh Market

I’ve held off on leaving this review because I wanted to give the store several chances. I’ve purchased their premade meal kits numerous times, but more often than not, I’ve been disappointed. At this point, I’ve decided to stop wasting my money on them. Most recently, I purchased the Chicken Piccata meal kit with green beans and wild rice. It was advertised as serving two people, but it contained only one small chicken breast and half of another. There wasn’t even enough chicken to satisfy one person, let alone two adults. To make matters worse, nearly half of the green beans had gone bad and were mushy. Because there was so little chicken and so few edible green beans, there was an excessive amount of sauce and wild rice left over with nothing to eat it with. My partner and I were unable to have it for dinner because there simply wasn’t enough food. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time I’ve had an issue with these meal kits. I previously purchased the stir-fry kit, and the photo on the packaging showed an abundance of broccoli. However, when I opened the kit, it contained only one tiny piece of broccoli—about the size of my thumbnail—while the rest of the vegetables were shredded carrots. The quality and portion sizes have been consistently disappointing, especially considering the price. I had hoped these issues were isolated incidents, but after several purchases, I no longer feel the meal kits provide the value or quality that customers should expect. It is so disappointing because fresh market has such a good reputation as a brand, but this location is tarnishing that.

I bought a bag of crab legs yesterday afternoon and cooked them as soon as I got home. The moment they started cooking, they had a strong ammonia smell, almost like urine. That's a clear sign the seafood was no longer fresh, and my biggest concern was that my family, especially my children, could have gotten sick. I called the store and was told I could return them with my receipt. Unfortunately, I had already thrown it away, but I brought the crab legs back, showed the charge on my bank account, and explained exactly what I had purchased. When I opened the bag, the employees were visibly disgusted by the smell, yet the manager was rude and refused to help because I didn't have the receipt. They only offered me a gift card after I told them I wouldn't be shopping there again. If you advertise yourselves as a fresh market, your seafood should be routinely inspected for freshness. Spoiled seafood is a serious food safety issue, and seafood poisoning can have severe consequences. This experience was unacceptable!

Employees can use a little more training on customer service. The lady at the bakery seemed very bothered that she had to work. I would expect better customer service at specialty store with higher prices.

Good store. They have tons of extreamly fresh products. They sell meats by the pound and have bacon, sausage, different steak and pork cuts, even chicken. The bakery is filled with delicious dessert with a wide variety. The deli area is wonderful and have deals daily for different items.
