I have shopped at the Fresh Market near me for 13 years. However, in the last year or so I feel quality and service have changed and I am saddened by that. Tonight was the straw that broke the camel’s back. I put a slab of baby back ribs in my crockpot with veggies and barbecue sauce, in a recipe I have fixed for years. The results were so disappointing that we threw away the leftovers…which were enough for another full meal. The meat should have fallen off the bone, but didn’t and the flavor of the pork was blah. Actually, this happened the last time I bought ribs at FM, but I thought it was an anomaly. Also recently I bought a Prime flank steak and had a similar experience. I’m 76 years old and have cooked flank steaks for over 50 years. This flank steak was also only marginally flavorful and not tender, even when sliced across the grain. In my freezer I have cube steak I recently bought, but I’m reticent to fix it. I discovered that a significant portion of FM was purchased a few years ago so maybe that’s the answer. I always excused changes I saw to COVID, or the economy, but maybe it’s a management decision. Whatever, I am saddened and will limit my shopping in the future.

This grocery store has become my regular stop because it saves me time. The layout makes sense, prices are clearly marked, and I rarely encounter empty shelves. During my last visit, an employee noticed I was searching for something and guided me right to the correct aisle.
