Far too many complaints make a proper example. Waiting 3.75 hours to be transferred from chair to bed! Alert button to nurses station does NOT work at least twice a day. That's when I get myself out of bed and walk up to nurse for help. 3 hour wait on pain meds 1 week, 1 correct meal tray! You get the idea! I am safer and would achieve therapy at home for myself better than once this week here. Yet, I am unable to leave 😡
I have visited a resident there several times. I have gone in mornings and afternoons and once at lunch. When I have needed information and have contacted someone on staff that person has been helpful. However, most times I have needed help, it has been difficult to find someone or to get their attention. I have often found no one manning the sign-in desk or the desk area behind it. I have waited, then gone to find someone by looking in the halls. I have twice been told the person didn't work on that hall and I would have to find someone else. I have also run into staff at those help desks in conversation with each other, and waited, then had to interrupt even when I have been noticed. They were not talking shop, but private matters. They were higher ranked staff than aides. My latest visit there was a resident in a wheelchair backed up to a wall in the entry area. A group of aides were chatting together in easy earshot. She was asking for someone to please take her to her room. No one looked up or responded. She reached out to me and asked. I said I would find someone. Even seeing our encounter no aide came. I started over to them and one came. She told the lady that she would take her to church shortly. I realized the service was at two. Will she have to sit here by the wall for 50 minutes? Yes. I understand that things slip by in institutions and residents can be annoying. But my own difficulty of getting help and info as a visitor makes me have real concern of the residents who have less power to get aid. suggest there be someone at the sign-in desk or at the help desk in back of that desk. Rarely have I found those manned.
Great staff and community! I use to volunteer there.
