I enjoyed going to Dr. Ten Hulzen more than any other eye doctor. He didn't push us through like we were on an assembly line. I wish he hadn't retired. My daughter liked him, too. She has a rare auto immune disease (dermatomyasitis) which requires a special eye test even though it's not an eye disease. Not many people have heard of this disease but he has & the eye test she needs for it. He took care of my dry eye problems, removed my cataracts & other problems I had. I really miss him a lot. I don't like where I go now. I keep. putting 5 stars & it takes them away when I post it.
Dr. TenHulzen is the most patient and reasonable optometrist I have found. Having gone through numerous other offices Beaches Eye Center has healed and removed all vision and pain issues far sooner than even diagnosed. Compassionate and conscious of realistic problems and issues concerning insurance companies and coverage concerns as well...
Why is he still on the internet.. He said he retired ? He cared nothing about my pain.. made light of it.. told me to use those cheap Walmart eye drops.. would not, could not, prescribe eyeglasses for me or know of anyone who could.. what a waste of time..( I felt sad of my Swedish background). I think he had his mind on his honey.. Can you believe he wanted to put plugs in my hurting eyes ? More OUCH !
Sorry, I would not recommend. It is not so much the doctor, although he did not explain my condition well, but his support staff. I think Mayo needs to do better training in this department.
I couldn't see out of my left eye. Thanks to Dr. Ten Hulzen, I can now see out of my left eye. 2017
