Complete blown head gasket repair. Great experience. Fair prices. Honest shop which is hard to find these days. Very satisfied with the job done! 2017 Ram 1500
All I can say is that Mr.Jeff is the best I have ever in my life had to deal with when it came to such a Big job of getting a new engine. He is very Honest and "doesn't jump from the fence." His words!🙂 Before, he was responsible for a head and jugs job for my Vtwin Harley Davidson. 1000% great job! Then it was my 2003 Mustang. 1000% Geat job. I would not recommend no but this shop for all your automotive needs. Never treated me like a customer, more like family. If you are looking for a rush job and poor results....this isn't the shop for you. if you want excellence this is where you need to go.
I can't recommend this shop enough, they are the most honest, timely and reasonably priced automotive place I've ever been! I took my Suburban to the dealership with AC issues. They wanted to charge me over $2-3k to repair it. I took it to Tachyon for a second opinion and it was just a bad o-ring that fixed the issue. They saved me thousands, thank you guys so much! I will definitely be back for all my service needs!
Would give zero stars if possible! Where do I start with this mess? I drove to Tachyon 7 times during this process...They did nothing but butcher this head that had 38 original hours on it 1st trip --- dropping off the head/cams ,everything was in great shape just needed the valve seats recut/guides checked and had all new stainless steel valve set/matched springs/retainers to go with it,They called me the very next day after dropping it off and said it was done which I though was a bit too fast IMO.I pick the head up bring it back,Installed the head and do a leak down (I own a raceshop and I leak test every engine after head installs).Intake valves were leaking horrible.I removed head and pulled valves to see they cut the valve seats in the most horrible way and one seat wasn't cut correctly. 2nd trip --- I bring the head back jeff says he'll fix it. 3rd trip -- I go to pickup the head and the cams won't even turn in the cam caps right there in the office as if they're bound up and something isn't right.I literally drove over there for nothing and jeff says just leave it with me for a couple hours. 4th trip --- I pickup the head and bring it back and after looking they had tightened down the cam caps with the cam bearing locator clips not seated in the right position and it left grooves in the head and mushed one cam cap bolt hole over slightly.Head still leaks horribly and fails leakdown test number 2.I remove the head and check again and discover one valve won't even come out (stem gets stuck in guide taking it out,Granted this engine hasn't even been ran or turned over..PERIOD) and they've machined so much of the intake seats down they had the smallest valve shim possible in it (would ruin any possible valve adjustments in the future). 5th trip --- I bring the HEAD BACK EXTREMELY UPSET WITH THIS AND JEFF SAYS HE'LL CHECK IT OUT. 6th Trip --- Jeff calls and says one intake valve is bent,I say thats impossible the engine was never ran or even turned over at all.Head was just installed and leak down tested. He attempts to say it must've hit a piston which is pretty hard to do when the engine wasn't ran/turned over. On top of that the valve would come out 1/4 inch and stop which shows the valve was bent above the valve guide and between the spring retainer. (it was bent during reassembly from them but they won't admit it)i told jeff it needs both intake valve seats replaced due to they machined them until there was the smallest shim installed for clearance and I can't adjust valves in the future that way. Jeff says he'll replace both intake valve seats and order a replacement valve. 7th trip --- Matt calls and says its ready to go.I pick it up.Bring it back, put the head on,2nd head gasket/torqued to spec,I do a leak down it passes the leak down test.I crank the bike and runs but has this rattle noise that comes and goes from the left intake side of the head.I have little to no trust in their work at this point so I remove the head after about 15 mins of run time on the stand. I find out they only replaced one of the intake valve seats (not both like jeff said he'd do),Did a horrible job at that and the other valve still has the smallest shims possible in it,Both valve seats and even the one they replaced has the worst looking cut seats,I truly don't know what their seat and guide machine looks like but this is unbelievable work. One new valve was already tuliped from them (lapping the valve) They trashed brand new valves the valve guides had excessive play and a valve job is only as good as the guides which tells me they don't know what they're doing. the valve they installed the new seat on only had 15 mins run time and you can see it was wearing on one side of the stem already. Not only that they dinged up the cam journal in a few spots. They bent one of the shim buckets where it was't riding right in the bucket bore. JEFF WILL LIE DIRECTLY TO YOUR FACE AND NOT TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY THEY'VE JUST DESTROYED THIS HEAD AND COST ME MORE MONEY/TIME AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS
Very disappointing experience with Tachyon Automotive. I spoke with Josh one of the owners who gave me a price for replacing my turbocharger, including the part and labor. We agreed on the price, and he told me he would call me when the turbocharger arrived so they could complete the repair. Instead, I was given excuse after excuse for over a month. First, I was told the turbocharger they received was defective and that they needed to order another one. Then Josh kept saying he would call me back with an update, but he never did. I was left waiting with no communication and no follow-through. After more than a month of delays and broken promises, I decided to take my car somewhere else to have it repaired. I understand that parts can sometimes be delayed or arrive defective, but there is no excuse for the lack of communication and repeatedly promising to call without ever following through. I would not recommend this shop based on my experience.
