I have been taking my dogs here since moving to St Augustine about 3 years now. There is something genuinely special about this place and it was very easy to tell from the first visit Dr. Jack genuinely cares but recently that became abundantly more apparent when my baby boy Blitz(only 6 years old) got sick and they ran the test they are able to there and preform a xray but he needed to see a specialist. This started a long heart breaking long to months of visits to specialists, surgeries, tests, lab work with amounting to 10s of thousands of dollars and tragically my baby was not getting any better and only getting worse. Every specialist and urgent vet I went too all only wanted to do the same thing run more and more expensive test and special medications and even after repeatedly going too the specialist first for $1800 in tests then $7000 for surgery then more and more tests and medications and imaging and endless expenses with no real compassion and never seeing the results they promised. Eventually I ran out of funds to and he also was getting much worse and it became apparent to me he was not going to make it out of this one. I called the specialist vet I spent 10s of thousands with and ask if I could just get pain medication until his until his home euthanasia could be preformed. They refused unless I brought him in for an expensive office visit and more blood work which I could not afford, they had absolutely no compassion or sympathy. I called St Augustine Animal Clinic as a last resort asking for help. I spoke with Carson on the phone and was instantly given compassion and sympathy as if Blitz was his own dog. They had me bring him in and Dr Jack did everything he could to make him as comfortable as possible in his finally days and I will be forever grateful for Dr. Jack and his entire staff who all showed the most compassion and sympathy and genuinely care about the animals and the people. I cannot recommend this vet enough I will never take my babies anywhere else. Thankyou Dr Jack, Carson, and everyone else there.
I am sooooo glad Stephanie & John Recommended this place to us! EVERYONE there is so kind & professional. We have 2 Golden’s who are our children & they treat them as such. Plus their prices are SO fair. Thank you Kevin, Alan, Dr Michelle and all there !
Thanks to this practice, especially Jolene, for helping get my parents dog in to be seen when their vet was completely booked. Jolene got them in same day, and was so caring despite my stress! We were given peace of mind and my parents switched to this practice immediately 🙏🏼 great team here !
Called ahead to get established and told them I had a dog we adopted this year with severe separation anxiety that we wanted to try medication for. Was told their exam fee and told the visit would be “$79 plus whatever the medication costs”. I arrive and am taken back to a room by a man that never told me his name(was he a tech or the vet?), was asked a couple questions about medications my dog is taking and diet, then he mentioned bloodwork for my dog like they were about to do it without even discussing. The whole time the back door is open to the room and an employee is sitting on something right against the room balancing and all I can see is feet in the air and hear other staff laughing. When I asked how much I was presented with a bill he had printed in hand the whole time for almost $300! He told me bloodwork is required if they write any type of anxiety prescription. How do you jump from less than a hundred over the phone plus meds to $300 is beyond me. Maybe I could’ve prepared if they mentioned beforehand because I was specific about why I was making this appointment. I can’t believe the positive reviews based on what I experienced in this interaction. Needless to say I left and was seen thankfully at another clinic an hour later due to a cancellation and them not believing what I just went through and didn’t need bloodwork. It cost less than $200 total to help my dog. Don’t waste your time leaving work early to go to this place, save yourself the trouble.
Have always recommended this vet clinic and have used them for the last 10years or so.. that all changed recently when my dog had an appt for annual shots. Because we have a blue heeler who can be a handful we were told we have to sedate prior to getting shots. Their method of sedation and then pin the dog down to do the exam only heightens the anxiety and causes the aggressive response. My biggest problem is that we spoke to the office yesterday who had us heavily sedate the dog the night before to get her shots.. 2 hrs before the appt they call to tell us they changed the policy on reactive dogs effective immediately and will no longer see our dog. The poor pup is now heavily sedated after multiple rounds of medication and they just dropped her as a patient for no reason.. they didn’t even try to see her again.. terrible customer service from the Drs there that implied they do not like our breed of dog . Also poor patient care for the dog who has gone to the clinic since she was a puppy. We just went to a different vet and had zero issues with aggression because they took the time to make the dog feel comfortable rather than muzzling, pinning her down and jabbing her with needles.
