I have just recently purchased a BADU 1.65 h.p. Variable speed pump. Time will tell how well this pump performs but, so far, it seems really good. This review is my chance to comment on the outstanding customer service I have received from the Speck team, specifically Matthew Johnson (technical) and Fred Cole (Customer Service). This type of pump needs programming to set time and speed (not done at install by the pool store where I purchased it). I had some trouble getting this done so I called Speck for help. Matthew took great concern and got me going in no time. He also provided recommendations on how long and at what speeds I should run the pump for optimal filtering and economy. Fred helped me with the pump registration process which, for whatever reason would not work (for me) on the Speck website. Both of the guys were very gracious and helpful. Their customer service was exemplary!
I own and operate a swimming pool service, and during covid I installed some speck pumps. Ever since I've had problems out of every single 1 of them. I was told by distribution that this was a great pump. That is not the case, these pumps suck I never know if they are going to get stuck in remote mode or will the drive fail. I thought being a big company that they would stand behind their product, but that is not the case. In short I would not by this pump unless you want the headaches that come along with them. I will never buy anything associated with speck pumps.
I have a Speck Pump for my BADU swim jet. I have called customer service twice since 2020. Both times they have amazed me with their willingness to to above and beyond to help. Another, well known pump company, I ask my pool company to call because I am unable to get in touch with anyone. Speck has face-timed with me to trouble shoot an issue and just recently was able to find a replacement piece in the wear-house that they don’t even sell as a replacement part: saving me thousands on a new pump. The customer service rep when above and beyond to help me, both times.
I have a 20 year old BaduStream swimjet that's been running strong. A couple of parts finally gave out and Chris C at Speck sorted everything out expertly over the phone--what to order, tips on replacement, etc. Outstanding quality and superlative customer service!
My Badu Inspiration swim system has stopped working again. We have had it since March of 2022. It works great in cooler temperatures but when it gets hot the pump shuts down after 30 minutes of use. Chris with Speck Pumps has been very helpful but the problem has not been solved. I think I got a lemon.
