Shmunes Vision

This has been the BEST referral I could have ever stumbled across. Shmunes Vision honestly makes me want to move back to Florida just so they can always be my eye doctors. 😂🤍 I traveled all the way from Virginia for this procedure. An 11-hour drive, 3 kids, a working husband, and a week-long stay at an Airbnb. I have keratoconus and came to Shmunes Vision to have corneal cross-linking done with Dr. Kathryn Shmunes. When you’re trusting someone with your eye, you want to feel like you’re in the absolute best hands. And I really did. I had the BEST team 🥰✨. Thank you so much Danielle, Ms. Nancy, my tech from NY 🤍, and of course Dr. Shmunes. Even getting to meet Dr. Shmunes’ sweet family made the experience that much more special.❤️ And I have to say, there was something pretty awesome about having a woman as my cornea specialist, especially knowing women still make up only about 28% of practicing ophthalmologists in the U.S. 👏🏾 But beyond the credentials and expertise, I just loved the CARE here. There’s something different about a PRIVATE PRACTICE where you can genuinely feel that people care about you. I never felt like just another patient or another profit producing procedure. They answered my questions, took care of me, and made what could have been a really stressful experience feel so much easier. I came 11 hours for eye care with three kids in tow, somehow found the perfect little place 8 minutes away, had an incredible medical team waiting for me, and everything fell into place better than I could have planned it myself. Thank you, God. 🙏🏾 It truly could not have gone more smoothly. I love this private practice so much. Thank you Dr. Shmunes and the entire Shmunes Vision team for taking such good care of me. Dr. Kathryn Performed cataract removal surgery on both of my eyes this past month and I can't say enough good things about my experience with her, her staff, and the surgery center. Scheduling, instructions, and the process all Professional and easy. She has a fabulous bedside manner (rare these days), answers all questions, and communicates Clearly & directly. Highly recommend.

Recently I was badly in need of an Ophthalmologist recommendation to rectify a bad surgery outcome. A friend/neighbor recommended Dr Neil Shmunes in Ponte Vedra. He and his daughter own Shmunes Vision. I could not be happier with the outcome. From loss of sight and excruciating pain due to severe corneal abrasion (medically induced) to 20/20 in less than 3 weeks. Family owned and run business still providing patient care the way it should be done. Dr Neil and Dr Kathryn likely saved my vision.

I had PRK done by Neil Shmunes. He is very good. He comes across is a bit of a salesman, but he’s a very good doctor, and doesn’t actually try to upsell you. He worked with me for a couple months to determine the appropriate prescription. Instead of having both eyes done, I wound up having only one eye corrected for distance (now 20/15), leaving the other one alone so I can see up close. My brain has adjusted to this monovision and I don’t need glasses or readers at all. I am very happy with the result. I highly recommend this doctor.
