Sharkey's Cuts For Kids

We were so excited to get our baby’s 1st haircut at this salon and traveled from far however was very disappointed. I called ahead of time and made his appointment over a week in advanced. When we arrived our stylist put my son in the chair that was broken and didn’t move like the others. The car chair he was in was also not cleaned and had someone else’s hair on it. As my son is 1, he was moving around so we wanted to put on YouTube for him to distract him. The tv he was sitting in front of wouldn’t work so we had to use YouTube on our phone to distract him. His haircut came out uneven and I had to ask the stylist who was rushing to please straighten out the front of his hair. He was supposed to get his hair washed and she didn’t do it until I asked her that a wash was supposed to be included in the 1st haircut package. Once he got his certificate, his name was misspelled. Overall very sad to say this was a bad experience and was expensive on top of that. Very disappointed which stinks because we ended up moving close by now.

I took my daughter in for a mother-daughter haircut appointment. Before I even booked the appointment, I called the salon to make sure they had a stylist who was experienced with pixie cuts. I didn’t want to book unless they were confident they could do the style I was asking for, and I was assured they could. My daughter’s haircut turned out amazing, and we’re both very happy with hers. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about mine. The staff was very friendly, professional, and genuinely apologetic, and I do appreciate that. However, being offered a free correction after my hair grows out doesn’t fix the disappointment of leaving the salon with a haircut that was the complete opposite of what I asked for. Before the haircut started, we confirmed that my hair was parted exactly how I wear it—on the left side. She completed the back of my haircut first. When she moved to the front, she asked to see my reference photo again, so I showed it to her. After looking at the photo, she sectioned off the top of my hair and started cutting. The moment she pulled the top section down and made the first cut, I immediately said, “This is supposed to be the long side.” She stopped right away and got her manager. Unfortunately, by then the hair had already been cut. They explained that because the left side had already been cut short, the only option was to flip my part to the right to make it work. That wasn’t the style I asked for, but at that point I had no choice. The reference photos clearly showed the longer side on the left and the shorter side on the right. We had confirmed my part before the haircut, and she even asked to see the reference photo again immediately before cutting the front. Despite all of that, the haircut ended up being the exact opposite of what I requested. I understand that mistakes happen, and I truly appreciate how kind and apologetic everyone was. But being told to come back once my hair grows out for a free correction doesn’t change the fact that I left with a haircut I didn’t ask for and now have to live with until it grows out. I left feeling incredibly disappointed because I did everything I could beforehand to make sure the stylist was comfortable doing a pixie cut, and I repeatedly confirmed the style throughout the appointment.

Jeannie did an outstanding job on my son’s haircut at Sharkey’s in St. Johns. She was friendly, professional, and really listened to exactly what we wanted. The cut came out sharp, even, and he loved it. She made the whole experience comfortable and fun for him, which isn’t always easy with kids. Great attention to detail and excellent service. We’ll definitely be back and will be asking for Jeannie again. Highly recommend! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
