San Marco Dentistry is a refreshing reminder of what healthcare *should* feel like—personal, thoughtful, and genuinely patient-centered. Dr. Howard, along with dental hygienists Margaret and Julie, exemplify a level of care that is becoming increasingly rare. In a time when so much of healthcare feels rushed, transactional, and impersonal, this team stands out for doing the opposite. From the moment you walk in, you are treated not as a number or a time slot, but as an individual with unique needs, concerns, and goals. Dr. Howard takes the time to explain findings and treatment options in a clear, respectful, and collaborative way. There is no sense of being hurried along—only a focus on making sure you feel informed and comfortable with your care. Margaret and Julie are equally exceptional. Their attention to detail, gentle technique, and genuine warmth make what can often be an uncomfortable experience feel easy and even enjoyable. They remember personal details, follow up thoughtfully, and consistently go above and beyond to ensure patient comfort. What truly sets San Marco Dentistry apart is their commitment to comprehensive, individualized care. They don’t just treat teeth—they treat people. Preventative strategies, long-term planning, and patient education are all integrated seamlessly into each visit, creating a level of care that feels both thorough and deeply personalized. In an era where the human touch in healthcare can feel like it’s fading, San Marco Dentistry is doing something special. Dr. Howard, Margaret, and Julie have built a practice rooted in trust, attentiveness, and genuine connection—and it shows in every interaction. Highly recommend to anyone looking for not just excellent dental care, but a truly exceptional patient experience.
Just went to this dental practice as I thought I had a cavity as my tooth was hurting when I ate. They took 2 xrays on that side and dentist came in to examine my teeth. He said everything looked good. Xrays didnt show anything and neither did exam. Said no cavities so couldn’t find a problem. I asked if he was going to do the cold water squirt on teeth to see if that showed anything, since eating cold food caused the pain, and to my surprise he said no it wasn’t needed. I get normal xrays covered by my insurance (panoramic and bitewing) 1x a year and teeth cleanings 2x a year faithfully. I switched insurance companies this year so had to find a new dentist in the network. Thus how I ended up at this practice. Before arriving, they received my xrays and records from my previous dentist I had done less than a year prior. So I said I would like to schedule my teeth cleanings and was told before that could be done, they needed to get FMX xrays….which was not covered by my insurance….just to get a cleaning. What a rip off! I called around to other dental practices in my network and asked if they required these FMX xrays for a cleaning and was told no. An internet search said this : Typically, you do not need a new Full Mouth Series (FMX) if you had bitewing and panoramic X-rays within the last year, as FMX is generally recommended only every 3–5 years. If you are seeing a new dentist, they can usually accept transferred records from your previous office. So, needless to say, I will NOT be returning back to this practice as I think they are doing unnecessary xrays, that are potentially harmful. The dentist I saw and his assistant were very polite, kind and professional, so it’s sad this practice wants to get money from their patients (me being a senior on fixed ss income with limited funds), with services not needed or covered by insurance just to get a cleaning!
Best dentist I have ever had. They just do everything well and don't try to up sell a bunch of stuff you don't need like some places. Truly a class act place.
First visit and had the best dental cleaning I’ve ever had. Been seen by different dentists in my 15 years here in Jax . So far this is the best. Charlene really spent time with me and I can say she is the best dental hygienist I’ve had.
Just visited for the first time and was super pleased. I made the switch to San Marco Dentistry because my long-time previous dentist retired.
