Rountree Sod Services

I’ve bought sod 4 times from them the first time I got sod. It didn’t look good. It was dry and missing a lot of dirt but I put it down anyway and after 3 weeks it turned around and started looking better. The second time. It looked amazing and still does. The third time I had made a reservation on Wednesday to pick up 2 pallets on Saturday morning. I get there. There was 4 pallets outside and that told me they had nothing else and that those were for delivery. I walk out the office and there being loaded onto someone truck as a pickup. If your running out a material. It should be first come first serve. I guess im just the little guy and I couldn’t get sod for my job that weekend. Fast forward a week later. I had them deliver 2 pallets to my job and it is the worst looking sod I have ever seen. Super dry yellow and missing ALOT of dirt. All of it is usable.

DO NOT buy from them. They gave us 4 pallets of dead grass & will not replace it. Awful customer service. After weeks of trying to get them to replace it, they gave us FORTY new pieces to see if it was the grass…. Which it was!!! The new grass was great and alive, so We sent pictures, and even went in. They will not replace it, even after proving it was dead grass the first time. Totally their fault and they won’t fix it. Here is a side by side of healthy vs dead grass

The delivery of sod was 5 hours late and half dead. The office couldn’t initially find our order and when I asked for the manager he had left for the day at 3:30 in the afternoon. The delivery driver was very apologetic when we spoke to him and told us that he is frequently over booked by the manager. When I called to discuss with the owner, he was unapologetic and incredibly rude. When I asked for a compensation for the delay in service the manager threatened me. Such an unprofessional way to run a business in such a small town. Just by the other reviews you can tell this is how they run their business.

Avoid this place completely. They delivered sod to my neighbors home and then tried to drive their rig down the street and attempt a turn around despite signs reading “no truck turn around!” Driver drove back and forth on my driveway, drove over our retaining wall and cracked it into pieces. Drove through our grass and drove over our paved cul-de-sac. When he finally realized he caused enough property damage he backed down our winding street, in reverse. Interesting safety protocols!!! Yes, we have video footage of all of it. Even a sheriffs report. The “managers” response, “Since I can only hear it from the video but I can’t see it, we aren’t doing anything about it.” Good luck with that one. Actions have consequences, Bruce! Maybe your rating would be higher if you had an ounce of integrity. We will be pressing charges and letting our insurance and possibly attorney handle this!
