Rick's Used Cars

No stars if I could, my husband and I have given this place all the business we could. Every time we needed a new car we would go there. Definitely went down hill after Mr. Rick passed away. Our last vehicle we got there we didn’t even make the second payment before the transmission went out. While we had a similar issue with a previous vehicle that they fixed immediately, we called Mrs. Brenda this time and we were told it wasn’t her problem. So sad. They treated us like family and took care of us each time until this last time.

I showed up before they opened, only to wait because the employees (a mother and son duo) were late — apparently tired from a baseball game. I was in a desperate situation and needed a work truck. They told me they had one on the lot. It didn’t even have a price sticker. Suddenly, the son printed a $10,900 price tag, and before I could properly inspect the truck, the mother was already submitting my financing application. The truck (a 2005 Ford F-150 XLT with 155,000 miles) is realistically worth $2K–$5K in excellent condition — and this was far from that. It had multiple warning lights and alarms: seatbelt, airbag, doors, etc. They promised these would be fixed — but only after 3 PM when their other son (apparently the only one willing to work on the cars) is available. Surprise: nothing was fixed. When I called to follow up, I was told again that they’d take care of the issues. I recorded those calls. Brenda (the mom) even told me I had a 30-day warranty. But once I tried to bring the truck back in, I was told they didn’t have to fix anything and that the truck was “perfect.” It’s anything but. No acceleration, it misfires, jerks while driving, the steering wheel locks up, suspension squeaks, bad ball joints, no A/C, and an open airbag recall that they refused to address — even though it says the airbag could randomly deploy. This was a textbook bait-and-switch. I knew I was overpaying, but I trusted their word when they claimed they only sold reliable vehicles. Big mistake — a $10,000 mistake. Avoid this place at all costs.

The two stars are just me being nice because the service from Ms.Brenda was acceptable. Other than that, I would never recommend anyone purchase a car from here. The car I bought from Ricks has cost me more in repairs over the last two years than it was ever worth, over $10,000 in repairs on a $8000 car. The engine light came on a week after purchasing and when we called and asked if we could swap it for another car they said yes if we put another $3000 down for a different one. I met another person with a Ricks Used Car tag and they said their engine blew a week after buying their car. No hate to Ricks but if you want to buy a lemon this is the place to go for sure lol. I don’t even ever leave reviews especially not negative ones but if these people had anyone’s best interest in mind they would not have sold that car to anyone. It’s my fault for trusting a shop I had never been to and agreeing to keep the car after it had issues less than a week after purchasing. Thanks though! :) Edit: please don’t comment back and try to make excuses like the rest of the reviews. I’ll just change it to one star
