Just a few days before Christmas on a mooring in St Augustine, we lowered our tender to the water and our crane stopped functioning just as the boat got into the water. Some of the weight was still on the cable. Tried trouble shooting but without success. It was Dec 22 and we needed to be in Daytona Beach on the 23d. Started calling around for help, but being the holidays, most said that they couldn’t help for at least a week. I called Responder Marine and spoke with Jay. I provided him with info on the crane. He said he would research that and try to make it out to our boat that afternoon on a windy rainy day. He arrived and took the shuttle boat out to our mooring along with tools, come alongs and several ideas on how to approach this depending on the outcome. In the end, Jay was able to repair our crane. We truly appreciated Jay and his efforts especially on such short notice and inclement weather. Very professional and just an all around good guy! Responder Marine is a keeper. Simply the best. Responder helped me out on short notice repair a failed tilt / trim motor on a Yamaha outboard. Saved our family vacation. They were the only shop that was willing to even look at our boat and make an assessment same day. Highly recommend and appreciate their service and professionalism.
Nic has been invaluable these last few years! He was crucial in helping me get my boat ready for the hurricane season the first year. I had no idea how to begin; I needed to take my mainsail and headsail down and store them, secure any lines, etc. In the months before I put my boat away, he was a great resource for so many things on my boat. Since that first season, he's helped with motor repair, and taught me a lot. He and Jay are attentive and have been so accommodating! I've recommended him to others in the marina, and they have been satisfied.
Jay and Nic at Responder Marine are an incredible team. Between them both I think there is likely nothing marine related that they cannot repair, make, create or solve. Their promptness, dedication, follow-up and true concern for their customers is beyond compare in the boating world. We are now on boat number two that we have entrusted totally to their care. I highly recommend them to anyone with a boat need, large or small. They're the best!
We came into St Augustine on a catamaran with one engine down. The day before Hurricane Idalia made landfall. Jay answered his phone, and arrived 2 minutes before he said he would, in the middle of an impending storm. Two and a half hours later he had resolved the problem and got the engine running. (Did I mention the storm?) The following day we had to call him again, and again he and Nick came out and resolved the problem in short order. It was refreshing to be able to rely on someone who did what they said they would, when they would. Apparently no matter the weather. They certainly live up to their motto: We respond, you relax. The company name is Responder Marine, out of St Augustine. I cannot recommend this company strongly enough to anyone who needs assistance on a boat.
