I need to thank McKenna for saving the day today. We came for a wedding this weekend and originally had booked at the City Express Marriott about 5 minutes away. We woke up around 4:30am to a thick layer of water on the floor leaking from the AC unit. I also have a mold allergy and my eyes were swollen and sinuses were extremely irritated from breathing in the mold in the room. I called the Renaissance and McKenna was able to get us a room right away. Thank you so much McKenna and Marius for getting us a new room and being so helpful and accommodating. They were truly there for us in our time of need and I will always remember the wonderful service we received here. We will definitely be returning and staying here at the Renaissance for our future visits to St. Augustine. This is a gorgeous and historic property with modern, clean rooms and amenities. Thank you to Tai, Zach and Jude in valet as well. I can’t say it enough THANK YOU to everyone at the Renaissance for being so amazing!
This is a beautiful hotel! The outside maintains the vintage classic look and feel of St Augustine while the inside is plush and comfortable. Our room was a large queen on the first floor so it included the outside porch. I loved eating my breakfast on the porch! Very fun to be in the heart of St Augustine and watching the city's activities while sitting on the porch. Inside was very quiet. Our room was very spacious with plenty of storage. The shower was fantastic and I wish I had it at my home. The pool area was great. Everything was very clean and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. I need a fan to sleep at night and forgot my traveling fan. I called the front desk to see if they had one and they brought me a nice standing fan that was perfect. This hotel is also in the center of St Augustine and there are tons of things that are walking distance so no need to find parking. The Fort, the Town Square, shopping, lots of restaurants, the Pirate Museum, George Street and several Trolley locations all in walking distance. I highly recommend The Renaissance and it will be my place to stay whenever I am in St Augustine.
It's a pretty hotel with very nice rooms. We reserved via phone through Marriott to make sure to have connecting rooms because of our family needs. We arrived and were told that, though they had rooms earlier, now they could only give us rooms down the hall from each other. When we mentioned that we specifically booked connecting rooms because of the kids and asked if there were any options available at all, the response was " we can give you what we have or we can cancel your reservation". At 8pm, with kids...after a 5 hour drive... Great way to start a vacation. So, despite the hotel being clean and pretty, this is a huge disappointment. :-( Edit & addition: To the GM, your reply is not actually useful. We are still on property and you could have reached out in person to address the issues that we faced. Your staff was dismissive and uncaring about the fact that the service we paid for was not available and had zero regards for putting a teenager with special needs in a room not even close to ours. This not acceptable in any way.
The room itself was comfortable, though it could benefit from better lighting—it felt quite dark with only a small window. The location, however, was perfect and very convenient. I also want to highlight McKenna and Chloe, who were wonderful to interact with—kind, friendly, and genuinely helpful throughout my stay. Unfortunately, my experience at the front desk with Casey was disappointing. There is a clear need for improvement in guest communication and overall hospitality. This interaction significantly impacted my overall impression, and while I would have otherwise given a higher rating, this experience brought it down.
We had a great time in St. Augustine, a big part of our wonderful visit was the amazing experience at Renaissance St. Augustine. It is the perfect combination of historic architecture charm and the modern interior design, stylish, specious and comfortable. The location is prime as you can literally walk to the most of the famous attractions that you must see here. All are within a half mile, turn left or right from the hotel. What makes this hotel so outstanding is the staff. Everyone we met is so friendly, not just professional, but personal. The most impressive part of the total experience is the hotel’s restaurant, Castillo! The food is phenomenal! We had our breakfasts and dinners all taken care of at this place. The waiters/waitress are super nice, especially the personal care from Daniel and the chef Robbie! We deeply appreciate the wonderful hospitality and service. Because of this, we definitely want to come back to St. Augustine and stay at Renaissance again soon.
