I placed a order over the phone for a Griot ( Fried Pork) which they said would take about 15mins. Upon arrival the place didn’t seem busy at all but still had to wait about 20 extra minutes. Which the food made it worth the wait! Everything about The Griot was a 10/10 for me. The vibe seemed super chill with plenty of seating options and super authentic!
I really wanted to like this place, but my experience was disappointing. The oxtail was one of the worst I’ve had, and maybe that’s on me for ordering it somewhere that isn’t a Jamaican spot, but the photo they advertise looks nothing like what you actually get. The rice was hard, the pikliz was completely dry with no liquid at all, and it tasted cold like it had been sitting for days. The plantains were so crunchy and dry that we couldn’t even eat them. For the griot and rice plates, you only get about 5–7 pieces of griot, and they’re either extremely hard or just straight fat covered in oil. It’s definitely not worth the price. I spent over $40 and unfortunately won’t be returning. On top of that, the inside of the restaurant feels like an oven the moment you walk in because of how hot it is. Overall, the food and environment just weren’t worth it.
We just left this restaurant, and honestly, I’m extremely disappointed. The name says Caribbean Bar & Grill, so we came expecting Caribbean food — specifically things like jerk chicken. Instead, we were told they don’t even have jerk chicken or the Caribbean dishes we expected. The portions were also disappointing. The cabbage came with what looked like two small scoops, and the plantains looked like tiny, flat little pancakes. What really bothered me was the false advertising. If you’re calling your restaurant a Caribbean Bar & Grill, customers should reasonably expect Caribbean food. Instead, this is essentially an Asian restaurant with Caribbean wording in the name. If you are specifically looking for Caribbean food, this is definitely not the spot. Save yourself the trip and go somewhere that actually serves what they advertise. By the way the food was awful
This new restaurant, located in Orange Park, is a new gemstone 💎 in the community. The flavors of the food are bold and delicious. The food makes you feel as if there is a Hatian grandmother working in or running the kitchen. I met the owner, and his white glove service made me feel very special. The newly renovated space is modern, live and fun. You have to check this place out if you have not already!
Even though they are never ready when they say the food is good. The serving size was plenty . Only thing wish my plantains were fresh out the oil 😩
