Purple Olive Restaurant did not disappoint us. The decor was tasteful and lovely, the staff members were professional, and the food tasted great. Purple Olive in St. Augustine was a great dining choice.
Our party of 4 had dinner reservations at the Purple Olive. We had some challenges finding a spot to park but we arrived early enough to get it sorted out. The dining room can be a little tight and noisy. It's not a place I would take children. But it had an intimate atmosphere like a big family gathering. So we didn't mind the close quarters. We were prompted seated. The roasted olives and the cheese sampler were selected as starters. These were both great choices. Olives were tasty and the cheeses were delicious. Just the right amount of each for our party. DW had a side salad before his entree. The salad left a little to be desired. Althought it presented well, it was a little dry. The dressing provided is not one that DW enjoys. One of us had the pasta primavera with grilled shrimp. This was done perfectly and had a wonderful aroma and presentation. Another selected the stuffed chicken; another had the pork chop; another had the salmon. The meats were enjoyable but the kitchen substituted rice for mashed potatoes. That was unfortunate because the menu listed mashed potatoes. The rice was not good and wasn't eaten. Still, the overall plates were full, savory, and cooked well. We would like to return again to try other items on the interesting menu.
Our first visit to the Purple Olive and it was great! The menu was diverse and also had some great special's. I am not in need but saw vegan and gluten free options listed. . We had the lamb can lollipops as appetizer, they was excellent. I could have a large order of them just for my dinner. So much flavor and great crust on the meat . My husband had the pre fix which included homemade focaccia bread with seasoned olive oil. He chose a cranberry Gorgonzola salad and loved it. For entree he had braised short ribs . For $25 it was a generous delicious portion. The service was great and upscale. Our server was Bridget. I was told to try the chicken parm by a friend who recommended the restaurant. It was a generous portion with I feel was homemade fettuccini. I could not finish it even though it was delicious. It a a smaller intimate resturaunt great for adults. I am looking forward to my next visit. .
The atmosphere is very warm and inviting, the staff is super friendly, and the food is absolutely delicious! I had theThe menu is sooo appealing i had a very had time deciding what to order! The cabernet-braised short rib was superb, mashed potatoes and broccoli (cooked to perfection) were fantastic! My wife's caesar salad with grilled chicken was awesome, and I loved the crispy crumbled croutons! My brother and sister-in-law said their meals (14oz gorgonzola crusted pork chop and the shrimp & artichoke pasta) were absolutely mouth-watering! And I had the vegetable soup of the day ( a mushroom vegetable) that was also to die for! And the presentation of each was beautiful; after dining here it's obvious the chefs love what they do! And our server/bartender, Meg, (we dined at the bar) was great!!! This restaurant definitely has the "WOW!" factor, we cannot wait to go back!!!
We were excited to visit the new location on Anastasia Blvd. The building looks fresh, the interior warm. The food was great. We enjoyed appetizers and entrees, I had the filet mignon with peppercorn sauce, my wife enjoyed the crab cakes. Our guest had the short rib. The creme brulee was delicious. The Gypsy Cab was a great restaurant, the vision of one our city's great chef/owners who retired years ago and with a new owner in the kitchen they will have a successful future. The service was also excellent.
