We built our forever home with Powell during 2023. Everyone warned me that a custom build would be a stressful endeavor, but it was honestly stress free. Ryan, Josh and the crew kept us apprised all along the way. We were in Kansas and the house was in Jacksonville, and they kept us in the loop, FaceTimed us and sent pictures all the time which meant the world since we’re really busy people and couldn’t just pop over to look. Through the design process they knew, and respected, exactly what we wanted which was why, after interviewing multiple builders, we went with Powell. Other builders wanted to build our house their way, Powell respected that we wanted it done just the way we’d designed it. That was the biggest deciding factor for us. We had a fast timeline, and us being organized helped with interior finishes and such. Being decisive in a custom will save you time and money, and there was a mutual respect between us in that regard. We had no idea about building in Florida - so different than the Midwest - but they helped educate us about what we needed and didn’t need. At the end of the day we were only a teeny bit beyond budget - when I speak to my neighbors that is definitely rare. We’ve ended up with a durable, beautiful, sturdy and for where we are and our square footage, affordable home. We didn’t have to cut corners, or settle, and we got a roof over our heads that were truly proud to call home. They did a beautiful job, and we’ve had very few issues after the fact, like minimal, that they’ve helped us resolve, and we appreciate. Thanks to the team at Powell, that house design we scratched onto graph paper a little more than 3 years ago has now been home for just over two years. We love it here and couldn’t be happier with the results. Do your homework, interview builders, have a solid plan and be organized in what you want for interior finishes, it’s going to make for a stress free (and surprise free) build. When you decide to go with Powell, they’ll deliver just what you’re looking for, with your architectural integrity in mind, just like they did for us.
My husband and I contacted Powell Construction, Ryan returned our call right away, his attention to detail and listening to my requests and answering questions was impressive! Later that year we sold our beach home and bought property in Baker county, Ryan, Josh and the team were so responsive with our questions which were few, as the upfront expectations were known! They allowed me to bring my vision to life , my husband and I have built custom homes previously, I am in the industry and had many connections, but I chose Ryan Powell, he kept his word from beginning to end, our home is outstanding in craftsmanship, detail and quality ! I worked with Powell Construction to build my custom home and the finished result is truly beautiful. I designed the floorplan and all of the details myself, aiming for an old farmhouse style, and Powell Construction brought that vision to life. The craftsmanship and final look of the home are exactly what I hoped for, and I absolutely love living here. As with all custom builds, the process itself had its challenges. Communication could have been clearer at times, and managing expectations around budget was occasionally frustrating. Those moments added some stress along the way, but we were able to work through them. As a single woman building a home on my own, I was especially thankful to work with a builder and team that treated me fairly and with respect throughout the process. In the end, I’m very happy with the home we built together and proud of the final product. I appreciate the work that went into turning my design into a finished home and am enjoying it every day. I will be forever grateful to Ryan and his team for making my dream a reality and for taking such good care of me during the process.

Recently moved into our new build with Powell construction. From start to finish the entire experience was amazing. A family run business that makes you feel like you really are part of the family. From the first meeting with Ryan (owner) the entire process really took the stress and worry out of the “what ifs” and “maybes”. Ryan walks you through the entire process at the first sit down. They provide you with an architect who can help put your wants and needs in a home and translate them to a reality that you can one day walk through. Throughout the build you can tell that they take pride in every aspect and hold their subs to a very high standard. We plan on living in this home for the next 30 years but if we ever were to build another new home Powell construction would be my first phone call without a shadow of a doubt.
