Our Lady of Good Counsel

The sacrifice of the mass is always beautiful, but please drop the over-exuberant drums. It’s so out of place with the solemnity and dignity of the mass. It’s so loud and harsh. The place for drums is definitely not at mass.. maybe a Protestant service

I was very excited to attend Our Lady of Good Counsel for the first time after moving to the area and had been looking forward to it for months. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. The church was very crowded and uses chairs instead of pews, which already felt unfamiliar. More importantly, I was not welcomed when I arrived. The environment felt cold and off-putting, and no one made an effort to greet or help new attendees. I asked a woman named Theresa, who appeared to work or volunteer there, for basic information about the church and how things operate. She was rude and disrespectful and made me feel like I was bothering her simply by asking questions. I also inquired about a women’s Bible study. Two women who run it initially emailed me, but then completely stopped responding. I even went downtown and purchased the study book for nearly $50, only to end up returning it since I never heard back. Overall, this was not a welcoming or supportive environment for someone genuinely trying to learn about the church and get involved. Because of this experience, I’ve decided not to return and to look elsewhere. If this parish hopes to attract new members, a more welcoming and compassionate approach would go a long way.

It's a steel building and it's dark. But we don't go to church because of the pleasing aesthetics.I mean, this is not the Cathedral at Aachen, but it is a place where you can worship in the Catholic novus ordo rite. Latin mass please?
