PROS: Reasonable range fees Excellent variety of rentals Efficient, friendly Retail Staff Helpful Friendly Range Safety Officers Safe, Clean, Cool, Well ventilated Solid comfort amenities *Clear and reasonable safety rules! ... if you have a negative experience here, it's probably YOU!... just sayin' *RaMoon Restaurant nearby (look it up!) CON: It's not close to home 😂 We like to visit local ranges when we travel and On Target popped up on Google with a nice variety of rental weapons, along with advanced target manipulation computers. (Admittedly we didn't use that feature yet, but may indeed do so on a future visit) This range offers reasonable prices for lane use and if it is busy like it was yesterday, time is limited to a generous 90 minutes per lane. You can come out and rejoin the queue to go back in again as often as you like in a day. As we discovered, it will slow down after peak hours and you can stay as long as your stamina, ammo or $ to buy more ammo holds out! We are glad we chose to join the queue yesterday and wait in the comfy lounge area watching a movie, especially since it eventually slowed down a bit and we were then able to enjoy our lane for a few uninterrupted hours. Will at the front desk was efficient and friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our interaction with CR, one of the RSO's. Today it was quieter, Will recognized us and expedited us in and Matt was our helpful RSO! We highly recommend this Range to anyone visiting the area, and assume the locals are fully aware of their great membership opportunities. 😀👍 Thank you guys, we look forward to visiting again next time we are in the area!
OTS is serviceable, but there are better experiences to be had at other ranges. The range itself, * The target system is very nice and modern, as is the ventilation. * Being able to staple targets is a plus. * The sound concussion is wild, .223/5.56 sounds as loud as .308s I've stood next to at other indoor ranges. Of all the places I've shot, I absolutely have to double up on hearing protection here. They really should invest in putting up sound deadening foam on the walls. As for the staff, * Some are friendly and genuinely good people, then a few are straight up standoffish. * Atmosphere in general can be somewhat unwelcoming. * The RSO's are inconsistent, one guy was perfectly fine with me practicing emergency reloads then the next time I came I was told I'm not allowed too by someone else. * You need to be a paying member just to qualify for practicing draws from concealment. I understand walking someone through safe drawing practices before giving the green light. However, other ranges will allow you to do this and work with you on safe technique, free of charge. * Way too excessive on ammunition check, once I brought in factory new sealed boxes of Fiocchi 5.56 55gr m193 ball and 9mm 115gr fmj they opened and ran a magnet through all of them. Final thoughts, This happens to be the closest indoor range to me, but I'd rather drive farther at the cost of my convenience in exchange for a better experience.
Stopped in during my trip down to Florida. I rented a full auto while I was there since that's not allowed in my state. Awesome experience, I got there at opening but I had to wait a little bit for a lane but it wasn't bad. I had a quick safety brief then was mostly left to myself under supervision. Great experience and rates were more than reasonable, I highly recommend stopping in here.
Best place in Jacksonville. And it’s not even close. Veteran owned. The gentleman that work there are top notch. Professionalism is off the charts here and I love it! Patriots through and through. The store; it’s the best I’ve seen. The selection is incredible!! You want it they got it. The prices; very competitive. The range; it’s by the best ran and operated rage I have ever been to. You feel safe and in good hands these guys are on it. And they really help you out. Knowledge, wisdom and good men. If you are in Jacksonville and looking for a place like this look no further. You will not regret it.
Love, love Ms. Lori!!! She is such a badass woman!! I am extremely grateful to have taken her class at On Target. I can honestly say I am now 100% confident in the use of my firearm, my stance, grip, and understanding of the 4 universal safety laws. I so recommend you take her basic/ladies night class -- if you are nervous/unsure, by the end of the session, you won't regret taking this class!! -Ky ❤️
