O-Ku

We had an absolutely incredible dinner at O-Ku! The food is flat-out amazing. You can tell the sushi chefs are true masters of their craft, every single roll we ordered was phenomenal, fresh, and beautifully put together. A massive personal shout-out to our waiter, Kelsy, for guiding us through an exquisite culinary experience. She is extremely knowledgeable about the menu, so much so that we felt completely confident letting her guide our choices. We put in our first round, loved everything so much, and actually ended up placing a second order based on her recommendations! On top of her great food advice, her service was top-notch; she made sure our drinks never dried up and that we had everything we needed the entire night. If you go, ask for Kelsy, she will take your meal from great to unforgettable. Also a big shout out to Chase, the Manager who came and checked on us. A true example of management perfection. We will definitely be back!

Don’t read this review unless you’re ready for me to gush… We had an absolute blast at O-Ku celebrating my mom’s birthday! Starting off, the atmosphere is so cute and clean with the nicest touch of beach decor. We sat inside which was fabulous but need to come back to sit up on the rooftop. For the service, Joe was absolutely incredible! He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and food while being so professional and kind. He definitely made our night of celebration. For the food, I feel like I genuinely died and floated up into heaven. We had the crispy rice (my personal favorite) sake dreams, koji salmon (my mom’s favorite), blue crab, Oceanside roll, and some nigiri. Every last bite was phenomenal and it was a bit depressing once it was all gone. The torched salmon is an absolute must-try and it would be illegal not to get the crispy rice. We were both head over heels for our dinner and are super eager to return. The staff was so kind as well and made my mom’s birthday extra special. Huge shoutout to everyone there and especially Joe. Thank you SO much O-Ku, we will be back!!!

O-Ku in Jacksonville Beach delivers a solid modern Japanese experience with clean flavors and nice presentation. The braised pork belly bao stood out for its tender, well glazed meat balanced by the soft steamed bun, crisp cucumber, and pickled onion. The spicy tuna or similar roll topped with crispy shallots had good texture contrast and a nice mix of creamy and savory sauces. The jalapeño avocado roll brought fresh heat without overpowering the fish. The uni topped spoon bites added a rich, briny note that felt like a proper special. Service was attentive and the space stays bright and casual. Worth a stop if you are craving sushi and Japanese plates near the beach.
