We just returned from an unforgettable week at North Beach Camp Resort in St. Augustine, Florida, and it easily earns every one of these five stars. This family-owned gem is everything we hoped for in a classic Florida beach campground and more. The location is unbeatable — tucked on a beautiful barrier island with the Atlantic Ocean just across the street and the North River (Intracoastal) right behind you. We woke up to ocean breezes and watched breathtaking sunrises from the beach, then enjoyed peaceful sunsets over the water from the river side. The sites are spacious, heavily wooded with mature live oaks, and feel surprisingly private thanks to the natural landscaping. Our pull-thru RV site had full hookups, great shade, and plenty of room for our setup. The grounds are well-maintained and clean, with a nice swimming pool that was perfect for cooling off after beach days. We loved being able to walk to nearby restaurants and having easy access to fishing, biking, and exploring historic St. Augustine just a short drive away (about 4-5 miles to downtown). Whether you’re into surfing, surf fishing, kayaking, or just relaxing with a good book under the trees, this place has it all. It’s dog-friendly, family-friendly, and the perfect mix of nature and convenience. If you’re looking for a genuine beach camping experience in St. Augustine, look no further — North Beach Camp Resort is the real deal!
Great family owned and operated campground. Very friendly staff. Some of the sites are a little tight so take that into consideration if you have a larger camper and slide outs. We have a 30 ft with a slide and it fits perfect. We also have a 36 ft class A with triple slides so we picked a site that was closer to the intercoastal where they are pull through. Beach on one side, intercoastal on the other. Golf carts allowed just see the rules regarding this.
We had a great weekend trip to North Beach Camp Resort! Everyone we dealt with was very nice from phone calls prior to arriving, to check-in, to the people managing the store. The sites are fairly private and you feel like you're in nature instead of a giant parking lot. A little tight to back into due to width of the road itself, but not a big deal. Roads are all dirt, but this wasn't an issue for us - it added to the natural feel. Proximity to the beach is amazing - just across the road from the entrance. We biked it, but it's not a bad walk either. As others have noted, showers are old and not fancy, but I had hot water both times I showered, at different times of day, and the facilities were clean. We'll come back! Also, I apparently left my hat in the shower and the next day I found it on the sinks - not sure if it was another camper or staff who put it there, but I was so happy to find it!
Do NOT use the laundry facilities! I used the washers/dryers at the office and our clothes now smell like sewage. After washing multiple times at home, it's apparent I will be throwing some items away. I wish I had read more into the reviews as this is a known issue. Aside from the poor state of the bath/laundry facilities, our family had a beautiful and relaxing Spring Break stay. The sites are spacious and natural! The campground setting is incredible with the beach and sunrises on one end and the intercoastal and sunsets on the other. The location is convenient to St. Augustine and has a few restaurants very close by. The nightly rate is high and does not reflect the condition of the facilities. However, we hope to stay here again some day purely for the sites and location.
We just got home from our long weekend here. We was greated by some super friendly staff that checked us in, and explained everything super clear. The camp site was quite, spacious, and the view was amazing. The campground was super clean, had unbelievable access points to the river to make it super enjoyable. The fishing dock is really nice, in a spot where we caught more fish, than we could count. It has a really nice fish cleaning station as well. It is right next door to a really good restaurant that has a gate for direct access. This is most definitely out top 3 favorite campgrounds that we have ever stayed at and will mlst definitely be back.
