****Update on Aug 19: I was contacted by Mandy at OP Nissan about the issue posted. She seemed very concerned about the incident and wanted an opportunity to not only make it right but to also look into what actually happened. I was impressed by this because most companies will just say that they’re sorry and move on. For now, I’m going to bump up the rating and follow up again on my next few oil changes. Original post: I normally get my oil change here for my vehicles because of the full synthetic coupons. In the past, I’ve had issues where the pre taxed charge didn’t match the coupon that was provided and had to always have them correct it. However, this past time, after getting my oil change, I began driving down the road and started hearing a flapping noise. I pulled over and looked under the SUV to notice my engine splash shield was hanging off as well as there seemed to be some type of fluid dripping on to the shield. I wasn’t sure why it was hanging off like that or what type of fluid was dripping. I drove the remainder of the 6 miles home and decided to wait til the next day to look under the car while also being pacing an oil pan under the SUV. I jacked the car up and noticed that most of the retaining clips were missing from the engine splash shield. During the oil change , the dealership normally removes the splash shield to get to the bolt on the oil pan. Then I started looking from where the fluid was coming from. It was oil! I flashed the light onto the nut/bolt by the oil pan. At first I thought maybe there was a washer missing because there was a large gap between the pan and the lower part of the screw head as seen in the picture. But after immediately touching the nut/bolt, I realized that the nut/bolt wasn’t tight! I began tightening it with my fingers. UNBELIEVABLE! Not only did I have to tighten the bolt to prevent the oil from continuing to leak, but I also had to buy A large pack of retainer clips that was nearly $50 from the auto store to use on all of the missing retainer clip holes on the splash guard.. Worst case scenarios the engine splash guard could have come off. Seen in the pictures below you can see the guard hanging to the ground. If it came completely off and lost it, I could’ve eventually replaced it for under $75. But, if that oil pan bolt would have come off, my engine would’ve seized up and cost thousands of dollars to fix. Completely unprofessional to not put the retainer clips back but lack of attention and it could’ve ruined my car completely. I took several videos showing everything in detail and couldn’t upload them due to the file size. I took snapshots of the videos to upload here. Like I said before, I’ve never had issues with this type of thing with Nissan of Orange park before. However, this was obviously lack of attention that could’ve been a disaster all from a simple oil change.
I cannot recommend this place enough! Hesitant to buy a car brand new in 2021, have been coming here for service since we bought it. The sales Manager Frank is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet! And Whitney and Rob in the service department are the people you want to go too, to handle your service needs!! Michelle is also an awesome service writer in the back!! Thankful for them!!!
Wipers, oil change, and tire rotation. Amazing service. Quick and easy. Would recommend upgrading your inside wait area. Need more than one TV and more seating with charging centers. Instead of vending machines, do what other dealerships do and put a small cafe in.
Rob and Chris have been nothing short of amazing with the troubleshooting and repair work on my car. I seriously can't recommend them enough, from their professionalism, their willingness to help, to the quality of the work done here!
I scheduled an appointment to bring An 80 year old mans car in for a recall, only to be told they do not order the part until the vehicle is in the shop. so I wasted today and now have to reschedule and waste another day to have Nissans mistake corrected. Zoro respect for a customers time.
