We visited Nero Restaurant in St. Augustine today for breakfast, and I ordered the Italian omelette—without a doubt, one of the best omelettes I have ever had. My family and I truly enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere. Although we experienced a minor inconvenience, the staff handled it professionally and promptly, even offering a 10% discount. Their customer service made a great impression. We will definitely be returning.
It’s a real shame that a café with such a stunning waterfront view doesn't meet expectations in terms of food and service quality. My brunch included pancakes, muffins, and coffee. The food itself was very mediocre. The pancakes were unnecessarily large, and the flavor was bland. The coffee was not the best quality, and I was surprised by the lack of basic milk-based drinks on the menu, like a latte or cappuccino. Furthermore, the presentation was poor: the coffee was served with disposable stirring sticks instead of spoons, and the maple syrup came in cheap plastic packaging. The biggest issue was the cleanliness of the cafe itself: the interior was unfortunately quite dirty, with visible trash on the tables and worn-out, scuffed furniture. The service was polite but unremarkable. I would only recommend this place for a quick visit for the view, but not for a proper meal.
We have been here before and everything seemed fancier. The service was ok, but didn't seem to interested in what we were ordering and acted like it was too much to ask for a side of bacon. We got our food and I ordered the eggs Benedict. The bread was tough and had to test it apart. Started to eat the 2nd egg and it was completely raw. I waited for him to finally come around and explained it was raw and just looked at me like " what do you want me to do". I had to tell him to let the cook know and it's unsafe. And please change the charge to at least 1/2. He didn't really care. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy..it was decent but not great. Please do better..we need our local restaurants to do well and not make people sick.
For the Holiday season this place was decorated beautifully. We were strolling past the coastline to locate a restaurant with view and this one was just that. It was heavily crowded owing to the touristy season and took a while for us to get seated. We ordered Caesar salad with chicken, for me specifically it was a lil bland and tried it with the hot sauce, which for my taste was brilliant! The chicken sandwich came along with fries. The buns seem to be made in house and it was really good. Hummus and pita was the star of all! A must try. We ordered fries on side as well and no complaints there too. The service was pretty fast too considering the crowd they had then. The decor inside was just too good, perfect for a holiday season.
Had a delicious breakfast!! Great views and our waiter was very friendly. Definitely recommend the Italian omelette!
