This was our first visit. I am so pleased with how my son was treated by every staff person here. It is such a welcoming and happy environment, especially nice when you have dental anxiety! The dentist was gentle and professional during his assessment, this was especially important for us since my son had an injury to his lip prior to the visit. We were given his treatment plan and pricing, there were no addded, unnecessary procedures and pricing was very reasonable. The front desk staff worked hard to fit all upcoming appointments around my hectic schedule. Overall I am thrilled to make Moultrie Dental my family’s new provider! Since the time I made this post we have had our second and third visits and let me tell you just how the consistency in excellent care has not disappointed! The entire team works hard to make every thing from billing and scheduling to the treatment process easy to navigate. They explain every procedure and every charge so that there is never a surprise or any bumps in the process! I continue to be happy with making the switch to Moultrie Dental for my family!
Front staff and hygienists are nice. My complaint is more regarding professionalism. I had not been to a dentist in over 10+ years and decided to try them out. My first cleaning, the room is cramped (that’s fine) but the technician is checking the computer behind my head as I’m leaned back in patient’s chair and leans his butt into my head - I adjust and don’t say anything. The dentist comes in and only goes to talking with me about my two cavities and pushes braces (I’m in my mid to late 30s and don’t have trouble with my teeth like that) and then leaves. I come back a second time to fill in my cavities, and the hygienist leaves the initial numbing agent in my mouth (reasonable especially before the injection) and says that she has a few things to do before she takes it out - she leaves me and goes to the room across from where I am and talks with another hygienist and pulls out her phone. I’m all for having a good time with one’s coworkers, but when you have a patient/customer/client nearby, make sure their room door is closed - mainly for privacy purposes (think HIPAA) but especially before you start hanging out with your coworker. When the dentist and hygienist come in, they are speaking to each other in another language, and the dentist does not acknowledge me until when she is getting ready to inject the hardcore stuff at the base of my teeth. While working on my teeth and when she needed me to do something, I couldn’t understand until she spoke up over the devices in use (she and the hygienist were also in a full blown conversation about something but I could not understand them as they were again talking in another language - which is great if you have to talk about another patient while the present patient doesn’t know your language). Another tech walked in regarding something that did not have to do with me, and they conducted some kind of work-related business (in another language again) while the dentist is still working in my mouth. I miss good old fashioned bedside manners when it comes to healthcare professionals and their patients and talking with the patient (even if they can only give the muffled responses because they are working in your mouth but they understand the muffled language). If you’re looking for a place to not build rapport but just get something done, this might be your place I guess, but it is not mine. I will be checking out another dental practice a coworker recommended. Again, the staff at Moultrie Dental are nice and I don’t have a problem that people speak another language - I’m just old fashioned when it comes to professionalism and good bedside manner for patients/customers/clients - especially when they are present.
My hygienist left the practice 😫. I was assigned to Esteban. I was not happy to find out about this upon arrival to my appointment. I feel they should have notified me in advance. Esteban turned out to be fine. Inexperienced compared to my prior hygienist but thorough and did a good job. The practice is still good in that appointments are on time, the facility is clean and comfortable and they handle insurance billing very well.
I had to switch dental providers due to taking a new job. In this instance, change turned into a wonderful experience. I'm so happy for Moultrie Dental Care to handle my dental needs. Tina, my hygienist is so knowledgeable, efficient and kind hearted. Looking forward to many years ahead!!
The overall experience during my visit, including the flow of the appointment with the dentist and assistant, felt somewhat rushed and below expectations. I chose this office because it accepted my insurance. While the front office staff was helpful, the clinical portion of the visit did not fully meet the level of care I was hoping for. I felt the care was somewhat rushed, and I was asked to return in two weeks so the dentist could complete my filling, as she was unable to wait briefly for my blood pressure to stabilize. It may have simply been an off day, but the clinical atmosphere felt a bit hectic. I will be returning to my former dentist!
