Impressive facility! As I arrived at the E R, I was checked in quickly and getting my vitals checked. Within 20 mins. I was in a room. Absolutely the BEST hospital in Jacksonville Florida and surrounding areas. EVERY staff member that I have come into contact with are wonderful!! Knowledgeable, professional they worked together like a well oiled machine. Mayo exceeded my expectations. I felt better just being here! Charlotte Ross
I was extremely disappointed in my experience at Mayo Clinic. They scheduled me in the wrong department. It was basically a big waste of time and money. When I went to inquire at patient advocate center at the Davis building, the woman I spoke to was very accommodating and friendly. She told me what to do and I did it. She ended up getting in trouble for helping me from her supervisor! This tells me that Mayo Clinic is clearly a bureaucracy. I felt rushed during my initial appointment. I certainly felt like a number instead of a person and my concerns were just brushed under a rug. The only reason why Mayo Clinic is getting two stars instead of one is because the staff at their radiology department rocked! There is very limited parking for such a well known hospital. If staying at a hotel I highly recommend one with complimentary shuttle service to the Mayo Clinic or else you won't make your appointment! I followed up with my primary care back home and they when I told them about my experience, they were appalled. Luckily my primary care doctor cares about me and ran necessary tests that Mayo Clinic didn't run! Oh did I mention that when I was in my initial appointment, I brought up concerns about previous abnormal bloodwork and the doctor blatantly said I don't deal with bloodwork. And didn't even think to refer me to someone who does deal with bloodwork within the system. This hospital is supposed to be multidisciplinary and it was far from it. I would avoid Mayo Clinic at all costs! Stick with your doctors at home!
I had cervical spine fusion from C4-7 in 2022, the care was amazing and my recovery was too! My husband had prostate cancer surgery Aug 2025, EXCELLENT CARE, full recovery! Yesterday he had surgery on his lumbar spine- he is doing exceptionally well. We love Mayo Clinic!
I must admit this has been one of the most disappointing healthcare experiences I have ever had. I have been seeing Dr. Iftikhar since my POTS diagnosis, and I have felt that my concerns were never adequately addressed. The primary recommendation I received was to drink a glass of salt water each morning and use a cane while walking. Beyond that, I did not feel that meaningful treatment options, management strategies, or ongoing support were provided. When I requested a medical narrative report regarding my condition, the request was declined. I was informed that my primary care physician could use the visit notes in which she made at our visit instead and was told that Mayo Clinic is a consultative and diagnostic facility that does not provide long-term or ongoing care. I was advised to discuss the matter further with my PCP. What has been most frustrating is the lack of attention given to my ongoing fainting episodes. My husband and I repeatedly raised concerns about these episodes, yet I felt those concerns were dismissed. My medications were not thoroughly discussed, and the only change made was adjusting how I take my blood pressure medication. I understand that every patient's experience is different, but I left feeling unheard, unsupported, and without answers. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this hospital for ongoing management of complex conditions such as POTS. My experience has been that Mayo Clinic excels in certain specialized areas, such as cancer treatment and transplants, but I did not feel the same level of care and attention was provided for my condition. Patients deserve to feel heard, taken seriously, and actively involved in their care. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.
If you live within 5 hours of Mayo or maybe even more, it would be well worth your travel rather than going to someone closer to you. You will get the royal treatment from renowned experts. So worth your travel. I often get a hotel when I go since I am a few hours away. All of it is worth the incredibly better treatment and expertise I receive.
