Magnuson Hotel Jacksonville Downtown

Front desk staff very nice and accommodating. Location right off highway, I drive for a living and easy access to highway is nice...walmart is close proximity. Now let's discuss their "no pet" policy. I believe it's because they don't want their pets competing with others. I clean EVERY hotel I stay in (no matter how many stars) well I think their "pets" like my cleaning smell. Within 30 mins I killed minimum of 5. Had this not been the third hotel I had tried and it was getting late, I would have kept going. Needed a shower and rest for early start. Let's just say being on the rode, I've seen worse.

google, the magnuson website and Expedia are all misleading. there is NO pool, NO wifi and its dirty!! it looks nothing like the pictures. the person i talked to on the phone and at check in was rude, but the lady in the morning was nice. the continental breakfast is apple juice and a waffle. my door had a gap in the frame where you could see the light coming in from outside, and if you really wanted to you could look through it. oh! the walls are THIN and it smelled like cigarettes in my non smoking room 😀 the hotel manager (?) didn't apologize when told it was misleading, they just said “i know”

First: this hotel has a lot of nice pictures. Don’t believe any of them. It makes it look like a nice hotel even for a one night which is what I needed and it is actually a corner side motel in front of another one that looks as sketchy. The check in area is not a lobby, it’s through a window with no mic so you’re forced to speak through the drawer. Second: there is no pool. I don’t know if there ever was one. There’s a pond behind a barbed wire fence in the back of the property. Third: when you want to make a reservation it says that non smoking rooms are non refundable. Smoking are. So of course in order to protect your money you go with the smoking refundable ones. What they don’t tell you is that once you check in you have 20 minutes to ask for a refund. If not, they try to accommodate you in another room. I personally did not want to stay. Fourth: the whole building looks and feels as if something illegal is happening in any of the rooms. The room was dirty and the air was completely saturated with smoke of cigarettes and MJ. The maroon comforters had “bleach” stains on them. The trash can was already used. The beds felt humid and cardboard like. The furniture was banged up and the base of the bed was kinda disassembled. It was metal so it’s dangerous when it eventually falls. It was unacceptable even for one night. We spent 25 minutes there reading reviews and looking for some other accommodations because it was impossible for us to feel safe of comfortable there.

When I first arrive, I got my room. The rooms are OK. It was clean, but I wasn’t in my room 10 minutes and the person next to me was playing loud music. I came here to get away to meditate and just be one with God so I went downstairs and they gave me another room and I requested downstairs that was on Friday night when I got here Saturday night for Sunday morning the people above me was fighting and feel like they would sound like they were dragging furniture. I feel like I need my half of my money back because they was arguing for about three hours. I got no sleep. I came here to relax and get in the pool only to find out that there was no pool that’s false advertising so I end up going to the beach so I can get in some water I couldn’t rest. I couldn’t meditate this was the most horrible weekend that I’ve had would like half of my money refunded back to me if possible.
