Compassionate, top-tier care from Dr. Lopez—but front desk experience needs improvement Dr. Lopez is an exceptional physician—attentive, knowledgeable, experienced, and deeply compassionate. He takes time to listen, explain, and ensure that his patients feel heard and cared for. His approach is both thoughtful and thorough, and he brings a level of humanity and professionalism that’s increasingly rare in today’s healthcare landscape. However, scheduling with him can be difficult. Patients are often routed to a nurse practitioner instead. While the care offered by the NP is adequate, continuity of care becomes challenging—especially when following up on lab work or treatment plans initiated by Dr. Lopez. When I called to request a follow-up appointment specifically with him, the receptionist curtly responded, “If you’re a patient here, you can’t just set appointments with only Dr. Lopez.” She went on to say that the NP “has a doctorate,” which—while technically accurate—feels misleading in a medical context because a nurse practitioner is not a medical doctor, especially when a patient is asking to follow up with their physician. The front desk staff, unfortunately, tends to fall short in terms of professionalism, warmth, and helpfulness. This is not based on just one experience, but a pattern that has existed since I started coming to this office. Phone calls feel rushed, and responses are often clipped or dismissive, even when approached with courtesy. In one instance while in the office, I overheard an elderly patient ask where to go for their doctor-ordered bloodwork. The receptionist laughed and said, “I don’t know, just Google it.” If you need help from the front desk, be prepared to advocate for yourself. Despite these frustrations, I remain a patient here because of Dr. Lopez’s outstanding quality of care. He is the heart of this practice, and I trust his expertise. I hope the administrative side will begin to reflect the same level of excellence that he brings to his patients every day.
I've been a patient at this practice for almost 2 years and overall have been happy with the quality of care. However about a month or so ago I had a weird reaction to a medication that made my blood pressure skyrocket. I never had my high blood pressure before and this was really surprising but after stopping use of the offending product my blood pressure return to normal. However after one visit they wanted me to come in a week later for a blood pressure check and I was okay with that but when I got to the office and checked in there was a woman sitting in the middle of the waiting room having a very loud conversation on speaker phone because she could not find a ride home. And they're ensued four more phone calls where she was still on speaker phone yelling that she couldn't find her way home and then beginning to gossip about everything going on in her life. Well everyone else is having to listen to the music as well as the blaring TV with an ad on it for the practice we're sitting in. This situation continues for 40 minutes while the staff who was sitting 4 feet away did absolutely nothing to address it even though everyone in the room was getting really upset. So of course by the time I got back there my blood pressure was high just because I was so angry. There was no way to escape the situation and there's no way to quietly read my book as I was bombarded with noise. Then they made me sit for over an hour while my blood pressure came down which wasted my time and it upset me even further as I needed to get back to work. This is not an acceptable way to let your other patients be treated or have to be subjected to someone being this rude and abusive. No one should be on their phone in a waiting room with other people but to do it on speaker phone and let it go on for 40 minutes is insane.
Dr Lopez and Mr Kirby are just awesome. Professionally and a bedside manner to make a person comfortable, their expertise is all areas makes it even better. The complete staff is awesome as well. They have been around for a long time and have established a highly reputable medical professional service to all communities.
I have been a patient for a number of years. Dr Lopez and Mr Kirby are two of the best medical people I've ever worked with! They truly care about your health and well being. Five stars is not enough!
I see Ricky Kirby - I highly recommend him. I feel like they care about my health and well being. If you're tired of feeling like you're not being paid attention to and seeing a large group of physicians that don't remember you - come here. I feel like he's extremely thorough and he "knows" me. The office staff is great too.
