⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ There are attorneys who practice law, and then there are attorneys who truly advocate for people. Susan is the latter. When I began my divorce journey, I was overwhelmed, uncertain, and honestly terrified of what the process ahead would look like. I initially chose a local law group that presented itself as specializing in helping women through divorce. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I often felt more like a bank account than a person going through one of the most difficult seasons of my life. I spent a tremendous amount of money, yet frequently felt like the attorney assigned to my case was overwhelmed, disconnected, and simply didn’t have the time to truly understand what was happening. At one point, I was so defeated and overwhelmed that I genuinely considered giving up. Then a friend referred me to Desire’, the most amazing Senior Paralegal in the world! She connected me with Susan, and from the very first conversation, I knew I was dealing with someone completely different. Susan didn’t sugarcoat things. She didn’t tell me what I wanted to hear just to make me feel better. She gave me the truth—even when it was difficult to hear. And honestly, that is exactly what you need when you’re going through a divorce. You need someone who will have the hard conversations with you. Someone who will explain your options honestly, help you understand the potential outcomes, and work with you to find the best path forward—not someone who creates fear or confusion or makes decisions based on what will generate the most fees. Susan genuinely cared about helping me get through this process. She listened to me. She let me talk openly. She helped me think through alternatives when the obvious path wasn’t necessarily the best one. Most importantly, she supported me when I had to make some incredibly difficult decisions. Did I get everything I wanted from my divorce? No—and that would have been unrealistic. Sometimes getting through a divorce means accepting that you have to find the outcome you can live with and move forward from. Susan helped me understand that, work through it, and ultimately get to a place where I could walk away feeling good about the result. And I absolutely cannot leave out Desire’. Desire’ is truly one of the most incredible people I’ve encountered throughout this entire process. She has a personality that can make you feel comfortable even in the middle of an incredibly uncomfortable situation. She knows when you need to laugh, and somehow always knows how to bring a little levity without ever minimizing the seriousness of what you’re going through. She is incredibly quick-witted, extremely responsive, and gets things done. She and Susan truly are the dream team I needed during this chapter of my life. There were moments when this process felt dark, exhausting, and completely overwhelming. Susan and Desire’ didn’t just help me navigate the legal side of my divorce—they helped me navigate me through it. They let me lean on them. They held my hand when I needed it. They gave me the hard truth when I needed to hear it. And when I was ready to give up, Susan wouldn’t let me. I will never be able to adequately thank either of them for the compassion, honesty, patience, humor, and support they gave me throughout this process. If you are facing a divorce and you’re looking for someone who will genuinely advocate for you, tell you the truth, help you understand your options, and treat you like a person rather than a paycheck, I cannot recommend Susan and Desire’ enough. I hired this firm specially Mr. Hank Holbrook during an extremely difficult divorce and custody-related matter and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience regarding billing transparency, case management, and overall cost control. I signed a written retainer agreement that specifically stated attorney H. Leon Holbrook III’s hourly rate would be $465/hour. However, during the representation, I later discovered billing calculations reflecting rates higher than what I originally agreed to, despite never signing an amended agreement or being properly notified or consenting to any rate increase. I was also billed substantial attorney fees for what appeared to be administrative or organizational tasks that I believe could have been handled by lower-billing staff or paralegals. A large portion of the billing involved emails, reviewing documents I personally gathered, organizing exhibits, scheduling coordination, and preparation for hearings that were ultimately continued or never occurred. Another major concern was the handling of evidence. Over several months, I provided extensive documentation, videos, records, and physical paper evidence related to my case. I was billed significant amounts for reviewing, organizing, and compiling this evidence. However, when I later received the file-sharing link containing my case materials, I discovered that a substantial amount of evidence appeared to be missing. Important paper evidence had apparently not been scanned or digitized, despite the extensive fees charged for evidence review and compilation. Despite very limited actual court activity, including only one short Zoom hearing primarily related to scheduling ,the legal fees escalated very quickly into many thousands of dollars. I also found it frustrating that concerns regarding billing and fee adjustments resulted in additional billable charges for communications about the invoices themselves. I understand attorneys deserve to be paid for legitimate legal work, but I personally did not feel there was reasonable billing judgment, transparency, or proportionality between the fees charged and the actual progress made in the case. I strongly encourage anyone considering hiring this firm to carefully review all invoices, monitor billing entries closely, confirm how evidence is being preserved and organized, and ensure that all fee terms and future rate changes are clearly documented in writing.
I have had the pleasure of working with Susan Kutz and Desire Jordan for the better part of 5 years and in my unique cases, their professionalism and dedication, work ethic to mention a few has led to favourable outcomes on my cases. I have used them a few times and felt more as a person than a mere client. I would highly recommend them for family law and if needed again, I already know who I will seek as counsel.
Do Not waste you time and money on Susan Kutz. She never had my best interest in mind. She lied to me on several occasions regarding alimony. She was steamrolled by the mediator and the opposing attorney. Did Not fight for me and had no idea how to make a divorce decree enforceable. However, they are quick to send invoices. Go somewhere else.
