I love the facility, everyone is kind. My first day here the staff was informative about my husband plan of care. Visitation is great, nursing is great, therapy is great. They also got him out of bed and into the chair. Dialysis nursing is also amazing. Thank you to case management as well for their assistance. I am very happy with their care.
The month of August was a very stressful and emotionally exhausting experience for me. I cant begin to understand how it must’ve been for my husband, David! After a month in ICU, I selected for him to go to Kindred Hospital for his recovery. I cannot imagine him to have gone anywhere else. I have endless gratitude for Kindred. However, I have had the most difficult time putting into words the immense appreciation I have for the staff there but I will give it a try.. From my very first point of contact with the administrator Amy who made me feel like David’s life was just beginning which gave me a renewed sense of hope that I so needed in that moment. To the Nurse Huget that helped me transfer him into the car to leave as she ensured me never to quit trying that I would do great … each and every one of them made an infinite impact on our lives. He was on a ventilator with a tracheotomy and feeding tube when he got there and within the first week he was off both and eating food again. The aggressive schedule and 24 /7 nursing care was just what he needed . Thank you with all my heart to Nurse Sari and CNA Eva for the amazing care they invested into his recovery. Your efforts made all the difference. You have no idea how much. Then he went to the Rehabilitation facility there for the next few weeks. I must say this will be an experience he will speak on the rest of his life.. He regained his confidence and got himself moving and ready to have a go at life again. PT Tim was just awesome!!. The concern for his mobility and reassuring him it takes time.. but not too much time because “there is a window”. I just loved the encouragement you gave him. Intern Abbi you were phenomenal and a delightful young lady. You will be an awesome PT because you already are and you have top tier PT showing you the ropes! I will always keep in my heart emotional moments of taking his first steps that brought me to tears and the tremendous concern for his future. Just the absolute best of the best! OT Ryan I have no words to describe the compassionate nature you have in caring for your patients but you are truly inspiring. David learned so much and speaks of you often. You are one of kind! Speech therapist Rebecca you also have a wonderful nature and are an amazing asset to Kindred. Happy Halloween to you and cant wait to see your family’s costume this year!! Kedma, Shelly. Ali, John, and Rachel I could go on and on and on and on and on… you all were so kind and show genuine care to your patients. You reflect exactly what a nurse should be!! Thank you so so very much to you all!! Best of the best!! Then there is Kevin.. David’s case manager. You, my friend, have been a tremendous advocate for David’s wellbeing and also excellent at what you do. The amount of effort you put forth in making sure he was safe and prepared for the best possible healing is priceless! I owe you more than a good review. My gratitude for you is truly immeasurable. As far as recommending Kindred Hospital.. I would say to go anywhere else is just a disservice to the patient. This is the one and only option in my opinion. Truly. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️♾️
My husband was transferred to Kindred Hospital after receiving a Heart Valve replacement along with treatment for Respiratory Failure and a Blood Infection. He was on intravenous antibiotics for 14 weeks. I was a little nervous about him continuing his treatments at Kindred since it was a small local hospital. However, once we got settled in at Kindred he received excellent care from well trained medical staff. The doctors kept him updated on his progress and the nursing staff stayed on top of his medications. Once he was completed with his medical treatments he moved over to the rehab side of the hospital where he received intense therapy daily. I would recommend Kindred to any patient in need of long term hospital care and follow up PT.
It pains me to give this rating as there are some really good nurses, respiratory nurse Sheil is outstanding and the rehab team are probably one of the best, however, the hospital is extremely outdated. Looks like it’s straight out of the 1900s. The TV in the room is probably a 12 to 16 inch TV. The windows were filthy. When you ran the sink, it would back up into the shower with a horrible smell. You couldn’t sit in the recliner that rehab would put you in as you would need to have someone come in to recline you or lift you up as the control is behind the chair, it looks like an old electric chair. I would say probably 2/3 of the night nurses have no patient compassion, they bang in your room in the middle of the night flick all the lights on or at least some of them startling you awake, if the lights don’t do it, they’re loud voices talking to each other do while some nurses you never know are in there. There are others that will wake up two or three rooms down the hall. We had one male nurse whose name starts with a Z that I could never get when I hit my call button. My spouse told me when she went to the cafeteria She saw him standing around a corner on his cell phone. When you hit the call button it takes forever to get answered and when you tell them what you need you just hear a loud click like somebody hung up on you leaving you to wonder if they even heard you.The food is straight out of the old hospitals very limited menu. They take your order the day before and it gets all messed up the next day. I ordered French toast one day and there’s one small piece of French toast on a plate Cut in fours, I had a hamburger one time that was also cut in fours trying to put condiments on It was not fun. Their cafeteria hours for your caregiver is 7 AM to 8:30 A.m. for breakfast and 11:30 to 1pm for lunch and no dinner served. Based on the food my spouse saw for other meals it was probably a good thing they closed for dinner. She went there one morning at eight and they were out of scrambled eggs. She asked the girl who sits at the table on the right eating when you first walk in if they were going to refill the scrambled eggs, she said no, so really their hours are 7:30 till they run out of food. Horribly wheak coffee, which is important to me the kind where you put two creams in it and it’s like sugar water. I may have given the facility two stars if it were not for the cafeteria. The nurses have like six or seven rooms so trying to get one when you need one is hard. One of the worst ideas I’ve ever seen Is they use walkie-talkies to communicate with each other which means if a person is in your room at three in the morning, you can hear other people talking on the walkie-talkies. We heard one nurse on the walkie-talkie tell another nurse of their room needed pain meds, and the nurse said let them know if they keep hitting the button that will just take me longer, we prayed we would not get that nurse, but when people are in the room, that’s all you hear is walkie-talkies going off. When the doctors make their rounds, they just open your door. The nurses talk about you and ask if you have any questions, there’s no real FaceTime with the doctors honestly I think a lot of people are trying their very best there under very bad circumstance honestly, unless you have no choice whatsoever, I would definitely look for another facility to care for your loved one. I actually had one person that represents the hospital. Tell me they were a for-profit institution. I’m sorry there are some good people there but the rest makes it a no go if you love your family member. I have sent a copy of this to Medicare as well. There is so much more that are little things but add up.
Kindred Hospital gave our father another chance at life, and for that, our family will always be grateful. From the moment he arrived, a thorough assessment was conducted, and a personalized care plan was thoughtfully developed around his specific needs. We immediately felt that he wasn’t just another patient — he was seen, understood, and cared for as an individual. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive, quickly becoming a true support system for our family during a time filled with uncertainty. Their compassion made an overwhelming situation feel manageable. What stood out most was the clear and consistent communication. We were kept informed every step of the way regarding his progress and the evolution of his treatment plan. That transparency built trust and gave us confidence that he was in the best possible hands. We are deeply thankful for the dedication, professionalism, and heart the team at Kindred Hospital showed our father and our family. The Czech Family
